I don't believe a thing I read on USCIS website anymore (except that my case hasn't been touched yet). 5 months is a load of hogwash. It is good to see some Feb approvals - even one from Nebraska. It seems though that these are petitions files after ours was filed :(. I have nothing, not even an RFE to indicate that I am not on the bottom of some pile under someone's desk who has gone on vacation. Oh well, still alive and well, and accruing pension money in Canada :)

For us, we both live in Singapore. My hubby is usc. People who filed from abroad apparently get expedited but it's now obvious we are not one of them. I have seen a lot of people who filed in April ,May , June and handled by CSC and got NOA2 within 2 weeks. Jealous ...!!

One unsubstantiated post that added nothing to the thread has been removed, along with a quote of it. Either post constructively or don't post.

VJ Moderation

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Glad I could make you laugh. I have to keep my sense of humour or I would go completely insane by now. I feel the frustration when those who filed after us have been approved, but we need to remember that we do not know other peoples' stories...and when someone is lucky enough to be approved quickly, then God bless them! :)

I'm just holding onto my "glass half full" attitude and know that someday soon I will see "Post Decision Activity" on the website and hear from my hubby that we have been approved.

Happy day everyone! :D

chances are you won't have your case number by then. looking at people's timelines, it takes close to 2 weeks for file to arrive at nvc, and then a month to get a case number. nothing can be done until you get a case number. once you do you begin to pay fees and begin submitting forms.

while away, with your wife, i would get all paperwork organized so once your number is in the system your ready to submit fees and file (electronically or via mail).

it would be a good idea to bring a copy of all your documents (say electronically but don't bring originals in case you lose them) so you can complete as much as you can while together. Remember there's a petitioner component and a beneficiary component to the nvc process, and each is separate. you can download copies to help prepare you in advance. this will assist when completing the forms electronically, as some can only be submitted that way. you will find screenshots and links at

http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_Process

or by googling them.

it is a good time to gather all documents needed for the nvc process if you don't have them already eg police checks and 2x2 passport photos.

good luck

good luck

I was just wondering if you received a notification like this after the initial transfer email/hard copy.

Thanks in advance.
