Regaining Permanent Status

Greetings!

I was on a green card for almost ten years, but had to leave the U.S., due to family losses outside the U.S. (sister and mother in less then a year period). One thing led to another, and I ended up staying another ten years here. My entire academic life, including a master’s degree are all from the States, not to mention my work history, as I lived there for 15 years. I also have two daughter who are U.S. citizens, work and go to college there. I am legally divorced from their mother.

I now hold a visitor’s visa, and they come often to visit. I want to return permanently, and my question is:

Is it easier for me to regain my status, and "how?" Or, do I have one of my daughters re-apply for a new visa.

I turned my GC here, at the U.S. embassy, a few years back when I went to renew their passports after a Summer visit. I do not know my number, and would also like to know how to get it.

Had you not gotten a visitor visa, you could have tried for a returning resident visa, but now that ship has sailed.

You have no path to immigration to the US based on your old Greencard. You would have to start from scratch. Good luck.

How old are your daughters ? If they're above 21, they can petition you and that will be easiest path for you.
