So I'm 28 years old now and lost my naturalization paper yes but I applied for a replacement (6 months to 2 years wait). They told me I had to get a verification letter and after several tries with the USCIS they said no.I told the NPIC about it and they said I could send my foreign birth certificate and my adoption decree and both of these items with translation and other documentation. I don't know if I should try this and hand in my copy of my receipt of replacement for naturalization certificate or what to do. I do need to travel soon. Have any of you had similar situations?. I wish people were better informed about international adoptees....it's a run around of confusion. Pleeeease help!!!!

in the year 2001 a law was passed that allowed citizenship to adopted children from other countries ......i believe my parents took my passport from Guatemala as well as my permanent resident card we took my birth certificate that was given to me after the adoption here in the USA and my adoption papers here in the USA to the passport office along with a print out of the law allowing me to become a USA citizen thru this new law ...........I was given an American passport

one other thing make sure that your social security number has been changed from resident alien to american citizen after you receive your passport if it wasnt done when you received your naturalization papers by your parents..........it can make all kinds of problems for you in the future if you dont........... it does not just automatically change at the social security office with out proof of citizenship

Iam naturalized which would make me a citizen and have my social security as that since I received it. I never had problems with that. I didn't have a green card either. I guess I may just try with what they emailed me from NPIC and see it if happens.
