Do I need an e-mail from the embassy confirming I can submit my paperwork and schedule the visa appointment?

I don't know what to do. Do I have to wait for the embassy to contact me or I just gather the paperwork and schedule my interview?

I already have my case number and the DOS website says my case is READY for scheduling an interview, but that I need to follow the instructions given to me in an e-mail, which I haven't recieved yet actually.

I didn't wait for the embassy to contact me to schedule the interview for my beneficiary. I didn't even wait for them to receive the package. As soon as I got the case number from NVC, I went to the embassy's website and followed the instructions to pay the visa fee and schedule the appointment. It would all be attached to the beneficiary's passport, but you want to make sure you keep your payment receipt and all that. After making that payment, I was able to schedule the interview. I got the interview confirmation sheet, way before the embassy received the case. It was not a problem.

Research on your embassy's instructions for paying the visa fee and scheduling. Hope it helps a little...

2/12/2014 - Was told to file Waivers

5/21/2014 - Waivers I-601 and I-212 filed

12/19/2014 - Waivers Approved

01/26/2015 - K1 VISA ON HAND!!!!!!

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Don't wait for anyone to send you anything because then you'll be wasting time. As soon as the NVC gives you the exact date of when your case was sent to Bogotá, wait about 3 business days for it to arrive. Then email the embassy asking if they received it, if they did, you can follow the instructions found on their website and take it from there. They will also email you the same package.

Thank you Diana, I just can't find a way to contact them. The e-mails I use reply automatically saying they can't provide any information. I called a number once and they said I justhad to wait for an e-mail from the embassy.

You send an email to IVBogota@state.gov

Have your BGT case number in the subject, and ask if they have received your case from NVC yet. Provide them with your fiance's name and dob. If they have your case, they will usually respond within a day or so. If you don't hear from them after a few days, send them another email. They will reply to your email. Their reply will contain the K-1 processing instructions in English and Spanish. Once you receive the email that they can start processing your K-1 Visa, you can then go online and pay the visa fee, and schedule the interview. Good luck!
