Question about I131 Travel

Hello Everyone:

My wife, who is from Sweden, and I were just notified that her I-131 form was approved! We have been waiting to take our honeymoon and had a couple questions now that we received confirmation today. Since her Swedish passport has her maiden name, do we book the plane tickets in her maiden name or my last name which she now has on her social security card and changed.

We have copies of our marriage certificate with her new last name. We are confused of what is needed when traveling and if anyone else has any advice. We have not had a our final interview yet which will grant her the two year green card. We hope that will be coming in the next few months. She also received approval to work and we are awaiting the next steps. Does the 1-131 allow us to go anywhere for our honeymoon or only in the USA now that it is approved? Thank you for your time and assistance in this matter! Best wishes to you all and thank you again!

Brian

The advance parole card allows you to travel outside the US. She should book the tickets in the name that is in her passport, i.e. her maiden name.

What is the name on her EAD/AP card? If it is her married name, then you should bring a copy of your marriage certificate with you to show the officer at US customs when you return, that she, the holder of the passport in her maiden name, is the same person named in the AP card.

Flying to Seattle on 6 May 2014!

My wife's US passport is in her married name and her Colombian passport + ID card is in her maiden name, when she traveled there late last year her ticket was in her married name and she just took a copy of the marriage certificate.
