I'm new to this forum and would like to get information from others which have experiences with bringing a spouse from Cuba to the US. We were married last year in Santiago de Cuba, and I filed my K-1 in October. I have rec'd notification that my papers are in order and have a file number assigned. Any information, similar experiences, notes of how long it will take for an interview in Havana, if the interview is in Spanish, whether or not it makes a difference if I am there with her or not, and so on would be appreciated. We've been waiting ...

I can only comment on the K-1 process but since you are already married, it seems like you are either applying for a CR-1 or a K-3 visa.

However, I can tell you that my friend just called for a K-1 interview appointment. She called the last week in January and was given a date for the second week in June. So the wait time is about 4-5 months. It is recommended that you be there for the interview but if not, it's okay. I was there for the interview-- they asked me the questions in English and asked my husband (then fiance) the questions in Spanish. They interviewed us separately and then together.

You might want to read some of the reviews of the US Interests Section to better familiarize yourself with the interview day process and the types of questions asked:

Good luck!
