Hi.

I'm a new kind on the block! I'm the USC and my husband is a UK citizen. We currently live in London and are planning on starting the process to move back to the US. We are going to file for the IR-1/CR-1 straight away. I know that filing the I-130 is $190 but I'm sure there are most costs after that. I did a search here and couldn't find anything. Does anyone know what the total cost from I-130 to arriving in the US (minues plane ticket) is? Including the other forms, medical exam, etc. TIA!

June

How long have you lived in the UK, you may save your self some time by filing the I-130 at the Embassy in London (DCF)

http://london.usembassy.gov/cons_new/visa/iv/ivprocess.html

Fees - How Much Does It Cost?

Fees are charged for the following services:

  • Filing an immigrant Petition for Alien Relative, form I-130 (190)
  • Processing an immigrant visa application, for DS-230 ($100)
  • Reviewing an I-864, Affidavit of Support (for petitions filed in the United States )
  • Medical examination (costs vary from place to place)
  • Fingerprinting fees, if applicable ($70)
  • Other costs may include translation and photocopying charges, fees for getting the documents you need for the immigrant visa application (such as passport, police certificates, birth certificates, etc.) and travel expenses to go to the embassy or consulate for the interview. Costs vary from country to country and case to case.

For current fees for Department of State government services select Fees.

If you are married and do come the states on the CR-1 later on you will need to lift conditions ($275) Mar be more.

About affidavit of support (I-864) you need to have filed IRS returns for past few years, and maintained domicile in the USA, if not you mar need a co-sponsor living in the USA.

My husband and I are doing the CR1, he is the USC and I am in the UK, I have it all written down but if your doing DCF then I think it will be a little different. The medical is £160.00, and also figure in a price for travel to the Embassy and flight travel (work out if it will be cheaper to get a return ticket or single as it does not matter what you buy ok) We are filling in the forms this weekend so they should be sent soon. Will let you know.

We are not DCFing, I don't have a ILR. We will be filing with the London office but they will probably forward the application to somewhere in the US.

A few more pages to look at.

London USCIS Field Office.

If you don't qualify to file in London you will need to send the application to the service center that has jurisdiction over your home state: USCIS service center.

I had to ring around and get a rough price in my head of everything, here is what i came up with:

I-130 $190.00

Affidavid of Support $70.00 (one of payment)

DS-230 $380.00

Medical $160.00

Travel prices, this will have to be worked out for yourselves. Hope this has helped abit
