Our case was expedited (medical reason) by NVC and they sent an email stating ' The U.S. Embassy/Consulate General has accepted this case for expedited processing. This file will be immediately forwarded to the U.S. Embassy/Consulate General. Any further questions concerning processing or the interview appointment date should be directed to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate General'

We haven't paid any fee nor submitted any documentation to date. All we have done so far at NVC is complete DS-261 form.

Our designated US embassy is New Delhi, India.

Can someone please share what are the next steps? What information does NVC forward to Embassy (given we haven't submitted any documentation to NVC).

Thanks for your help.

Cheers

Timeline

1. casefile is transferred by NVC to the IV Unit.

2. IV Unit receives the casefile

3. IV Unit opens the casefile

4. IV Unit schedules the interview

5. IV Unit somehow contacts beneficiary, informs them of the interview date via appointment letter, with wrongly-worded instructions on which documents to bring in and how to pay the fees.

That's it !

Although you say you not send in anything to NVC, it was NVC that received the I-130 set from USCIS, and got a consular casefile # assigned. So, ALL of the current casefile contents are sent on.

You should practice filing out a DS-260 as yer beneficiary will need that .

I will guess maybe 45 days to get into the appointment system, then an appointment another 30 days out. If you get it sooner, burn some joss, as the IV Unit faeries blessed you.

Hi Darnell,

I hope you are well. I filed my I-130 Feb. 27, 2013. We just got approved at the USCIS on Jan. 2014. NVC received our case on Jan. 31, 2014. I call the NVC everyday and they say the generic information. My question is can I put in an expedite at NVC stage through my congressman office? Also, what is the likelihood of an approval? If an approval would I then just mail all my documentation AOS, IV, Original documents to my husband. I look forward to your response. Thank you.

no - the best time to put in the expedite request

is

when the AOS Fee bill hits the petitioner's EMAIL.

Why? that time tick is the indicator that NVC has done stuff and knows of the casefile and can put their 'hands' on it.

Prior? Not so much.

Got a timeline here? study it, those thingies with the dates are timeticks.

Don't have one? Study mine by clicking 'timeline' under my name.
