Getting ready to file (split topic)

Hello there!

We're gonna start preparing the ROC packet, and on the top of my head, here's the evidence we can provide:

- Lease agreement in both our names. However, the lease is dated from before I arrived to the US and does not have my signature (my husband had the owner include my name but I wasn't in the US yet).

- Electricity/gas bill in both our names (they switched to electronic bills a while ago so I still need to figure out where to download them).

- Joint federal tax transcript. Since I arrived in April 2012 and we will be filing in January 2014, we'll only have 2012.

- Joint bank statements for checking and savings accounts. Was thinking of including a few for 2012 and a few for 2013.

- Joint credit card statements (2 different cards)

- Proof of insurance showing that I am a beneficiary under my husband's health insurance policy, same for life insurance

- Proof of life insurance showing that my husband is the beneficiary for my policy

- Proof of car insurance showing both of us as drivers

- Car title in both our names (we just got the car and transferred the title, DMV said it can take a month to receive the new title in the mail. In case we don't have it my the earliest filing date, should we wait for it?)

- Airline receipts showing we traveled together several times

- Pictures of us together at family gatherings, weddings, and during trips (Death Valley, Las Vegas, camping...)

- Letter showing we took a "couple" membership at local zoo

I read the ROC form instructions and it also says that you need affidavits from at least 2 people. Are family members a good choice? Friends?

As we are getting ready to file, we realize that our package is going to be really big, just because there's a lot of papers: bank and credit card statements are like 5-6 pages each for one month...

So we were wondering if it was a good idea to only send, say, one bank statement per quarter to reduce the size of the packet, and write somewhere that the other months are also available should they want to see them. We are afraid of overdoing it and sending an enormous package that's going to be left at the bottom of the pile! What do you think? Note that we have plenty of evidence (bank, credit card, car, health and life insurance, car title, utility bills, lease, etc...).

I sent a huge stack and got approved before most people who filed when I did. There seems to be no punishment for being thorough.

How did you send that big packet? Did you use a box or did you find a jumbo envelope it could fit in?

Many have submitted quarterly statements and have been fine. If you have enough evidence then I think submitting quarterly statements won't be a problem. However, it also won't hurt to submit everything - some even measured their package and many had submitted packages that are several inches thick LOL. What I learned in this journey is don't skimp on evidences because of some trivial issues - like inconveniences to get evidences, printing too many pages etc. When I responded to my RFE I printed out every single month's worth of bank statements - at that point I wasn't even going to give it to chance.

With that said, USCIS should be accepting valid applications on a first come first serve basis and not discriminate on the size of the evidences. Personally, I would think they'd prefer to work with the thick packages because it may make their life easier to approve someone quickly who has plenty of evidences than trying to determine if the applicant is missing evidence.
