My ipod is acting really strange. I plugged it into my computer and it is fully charged. I downloaded the new itunes version and then plugged it back into the computer and on the screen it's telling me to plug it into the wall.

I don't know why I would need to do that. It's fully charged. Also, I don't know where the charger is- I usually just charge it with the USB cord.

Has anyone ever taken their ipod to get repaired anywhere?

I tunes updated the firmware in it and it needs to be plugged into a wall outlet to complete the upgrade, it is the iPod's way of protecting it self from having a battery failure halfway through the firmware upgrade, rendering it useless.

Yes, unless you have a friend who has one, even a car charger will do, I have a car charger that lets me play the iPod through my car stereo.

I have a Creative Zen 20 gig player. D gave it to me as a gift back in 2004. I really really love the player....the battery on it could last to play for 24 hours straight. It's an awesome player and I have no complaints about it

I'm so sick of all the cool gadgets made only for iPod. I was in Costco yesterday and was simply AMAZED at how much stuff they had for it. I want some cool stuff too *cry*

The ipod is a little more resilient thankfully.

BTW - does Apple still seal the battery inside the unit - so you have to send it in to have it replaced?

It's crazy, I thought all they had was a few neatly colored covers etc. for 'em. But from alarm clock docking stations to complete home theater systems. Wowzors o.O Kinda OTT, really.

I just had the battery replaced in my Gen 4 iPod. I used http://www.ipodresq.com they will do it for you, or will sell you the battery and tool to open the iPod so that you can do it your self.

So you *have* to plug the iPod into a wall socket... even though Apple stopped supplying power adapters with iPods ages ago?! I've not updated mine in ages, so am probably missing a ton of software updates and haven't come across this yet... luckily when I do, I still have the firewire cord/charger from my old iPod. But you really have to have an accessory they don't even include with new iPods anymore, to complete the latest update?
