As I stated in another thread:

The US give visas to the spouse of F-1 and H-1 visa holders, in a matter of weeks or days; I am sure there could be some exceptions, though. Anyway, the US should similarly give visa to the spouse of USC, and I am not talking about K-3, I am saying visa similar to the ones for the spouse of H-1 and F-1 visa holders. The process should be that the foreign spouse apply for the visa in their country of residence, with all the paper work (marriage cert, birth cert, USC's affidavit of support, etc.) and the US embassy issue them a temporary visa for some time (6 months to year) so the two can live together; and during this time the couple needs to furnish all the required paperwork to grant the foreign spouse the green-card - Now is this too hard idea9dv.gif

Legal immigration is not a hot political talking point. Integrating undocumented immigrants is and that's all. It is about votes for democrats and the GOP opposing everything Obama wants.
It is not about either party being concerned about how long we have to wait. It is not about capping AP times. It is not about making the

process transparent and efficient in every legal visa category. It is only about political talking points. Ha !

I'll bet it won't "leave us out", my money is on pushing us farther back in the line. Will probably affect K-1's as well. Read the part titled "Reforms to legal immigration". We would't want those pesky family members of USC's or LPR's getting in the way of cheap labor. I'm working on my letters to my representatives now.

WIth all due respect, letters do nothingl I've done my share and gotten zilch; I would still do it again though. The only real force in this country is a political or economical intrest who has deep enough pockets to support lobbying, IMHO; alternatively you can always show your opinion with your vote. ANd yes, voting might not get that far either and then we will move to talk about the Electoral college vs direct vote and son on.

A company I used to work for had a director who's main and specific job was to lobby (together with other like companies in the industry) for favorable conditions and legislation. It was a company that made cheese for pizzas. It was unreal to see how the price of milk was determined not by supply/demand or market forces but by political and economical interests.

There was a bill in the Senate in 2012 December where spouse of LPR's could come and stay in the U.S with their petitioner's after having applied I-130 and waited for an year. That was also part of the bill and I guess the same can be applied to USC as well. Democrats shot the bill down because Republicans wanted to end the Diversity Visa program which was part of the same bill and Democrats were against that part of the bill.

Democrats don't give a rat's ### about Legal Immigration and will talk only about undocumented with respect to Immigration.

Are the new petitioners going to be processed through USCIS as well or NVC? Then there is an issue. They need to figure out how to fix the problems they have rather than looking to pass something that will only cause more issues in the near future.

I didn't write it, I'm just sharing it. At least there's a something out there for someone to address the I-130 backlog.

And, if an I-129f is filed with an I-130, it's supposed to be a K-3. Maybe that mythical visa can get some airtime, too with this petiton.

Boehner has posted a copy of his proposed immigration "reform" and as usual there's nigh a word to be seen about USC I-130's. VJ, let your voices be heard and tell Mr. Speaker exactly what you think of immigration "reform" that leaves us out!

http://www.speaker.gov/general/draft-standards-step-by-step-immigration-reform

I feel good about his proposal and am very confused why would you expect your (and other I-130 filers) issue to be addressed by immigration reform proposal. It's really tiny detail (although important for many people - I got that) compared to what Boehner is talking about.

Out of curosity - was any other reform proposal (Obama's or whoever else came up with one) addressing your issue (that you will forget about it in couple of months, once your I-130 is approved) or you just specifically decided to pick on Boehner ?

Posted

I got my approval already and I haven't forgotten anything, but it's good to know that I'm expected to turn around and say "I got mine, who cares if anyone else gets theirs." Because who cares about other people, amirite?

I expect it to be addressed, because if they add in more people, it's the US Citizens bringing in their family members or fiances who are going to bear the brunt of it. We don't have numerical limits to our visas to meet, as such, if there's going to be a workload shift, they're going to take it from our cases.

That petition makes it sound like I-129fs for fiance's are backlogged as well, which obviously isn't the case. Just saying...

They were backlogged originally. Then they moved that backlog on to us. The US Citizens immediate family members and fiances are the ones who are going to take the brunt of it as they're the ones without numerical limits on visas.

Agreed.

This pattern only exist because of adjudicator workload priorities shifting all to DACA for the first 2 months of it's existence (offensive content removed - VJ Moderation)

Sure, it was a 2 month shift, but it bogged the queues down for at least 10 months.

To those saying the K1 is different, yes it is but it's not the NVC stage (where the CR1 is supposed to take longer) that is backlogged its the initial stage, anyone who looks at the data can see that they slowed down processing of CR1's for months to speed up DACA. Nothing to do with the difference between the visa types.

Amen to you both. Very well said. People just don't seem to get the nature of the present backlog.
