CR/IRs are the highest priority of visas available and not subject to quotas. The proposed immigration reform leaves you out because it doesn't get any better than what you already have.

Please forgive me if I misunderstood your post.

What nonsense. CR/IR-1's are facing the longest backlog for their petitions of any other type of visa. The current wait time for an USC I-130 is 8.9 months, compared to just 5 months for K-1 fiance visa filers and just 6 months for illegal alien DACA filers!

Illegal aliens are being given priority to US citizens, and that's an outrage. If this amnesty gets passed, we'll be looking at 1-2 year processing times for an I-130 easily. That's not my idea of "highest priority."

The processing time for IR/CR was always longer than K visas, by virtue of their nature. The delay that you mention is not a delay so much as it is the required processing time. Do some research and you may find out things are not as bleak as you believe them to be.

While it no doubt feels unfair having a longer wait time than K-1's, there's a difference between the two. K-1 is conditional and essentially a 90 day visa which allows adjustment after fulfilling the requirements. Thus a shorter wait time, not a structural problem.

That's not true, in 2012 the processing times for an I-130 were around 5 months. The backlog happened because the USCIS ignored USC I-130's for 10 MONTHS to tend to DACA and illegal provisional waiver petitioners. And back in 2012 the wait time for a K-1 I-129F was almost a year, thanks to DACA. You should catch up on current events.

Indeed K-1's were just starting to roll again when we filed but had been seriously backed up by outside legislation which impacted the K-1 process. The various types of legal immigration go through periodic ebbs and flows. Best to relax and do your best to keep your eyes on the prize.

If you are trying to say processing times were always 5 months prior to DACA, then you haven't been around very long. Back when we started our K-1, I-130's were taking 8-9 months or more. The processing times go up, and then go down....a little.

Or, tomorrow you can join this teleconference USCIS is holding and ask your questions there!

http://www.uscis.gov/outreach/form-i-910-application-civil-surgeon-designation-and-centralization

No, it's not about the I-130, but they've been clear hey have no intentions of holding a teleconference to address the backlog.

Just because people are saying "this is the norm" doesn't make it right. If USCIS has a goal of 5 month processing, then it's possible for them to do it. I-130s should not be taking 8-9 months to process if all the required paperwork is attached. Besides, USCIS is only step 1 (as Otter mentioned). K-1s submit similar paperwork but don't have the added NVC step (which is outside the US), whereas K-1s complete their journey in the US, with their fiancée. Their accelerated processing just doesn't make sense to me.

5/21/2016: Mailed I-751 packet to CSC

5/23/2016: NOA1

7/29/2016: Biometrics Appointment

11/22/2016: I-751 Approved!
