I have always been curious as to why photos together would be considered secondary. I can visit a country (have dozens of stamps in the passport) without meeting anyone so how is that actually considered proof that we met someone? I have restaurant receipts, ATM receipts, boarding passes, hotel receipts, etc. without meeting anyone. Hard to argue photos together with that person though. Always made me wonder.

I was thinking that a photo could be more than 2 years old. The requirement is not that you've met in person ever, but that it's been in the previous 24 months. But the photoshop answer is also perfectly reasonable.

Hello everyone,

Good to be back here. :) Congratulations to all who have their visas, interview dates and NOA2s. Those who are waiting, don't lose hope. It'll come soon. :)

I got my interview date today (finally) after submitting Packet 3 in person on June 2. I submitted my packet 3 on the same day (June 2) I received it as the embassy is far from where I live. There was some error in the system so they couldn't give me an interview date then and there, as is the norm.

They called me two days later (June 4) to inform me about the interview date, that is JUNE 10!! 6 days away!! Can't believe this is happening do fast. As if they're making up for all the waiting they subjected us to. ;)

I do want to ask for your opinions about a situation. I do not have an appointment letter as they called me to inform about the date. I called the embassy but all I get is a long recorded message. I've emailed them as well but still have yet to get a response. To be fair, it's only been a few hours. :P

I wanted to know if anyone here had gone to an interview without the appointment letter, anything else you took or were required to bring to identify yourself at the embassy?

Thanks in advance. :D

London is giving me grief too! You have all our stuff, now give us an interview date!!! They were quick to respond to my first email. My second and third… not so much. Oh well, we're all getting pretty good at this waiting game, aren't we?

Do you know if Johan is going to file for SS before or after marriage? I've seen a lot about it for women (i.e.: go beforehand to get a number, then go after marriage to change your name) and I don't think it's absolutely necessary to have one before you marry, but I want to get it done asap. We are aiming to have him here by July 27th, and we will be getting a new place September 1st, and I read somewhere that you have to have a SS number to have your name on a lease. For AOS purposes, I want to have a joint lease and bank account so I feel like we should apply for it pretty soon after he's here. I heard you should wait 10-15 days after they arrive, which would be cutting it close for signing a lease because I'm sure he won't have his card in time!

What are everyones plans regarding getting a SS number??

Congratulations! :D

Thank you. :) Don't worry, he'll get it soon..put some heat on those embassy people..keep sending emails and ask him to call too, that is, if you get to talk to an actual live person. If not, no use calling..all they do is give a lengthy recorded message. :\

Wish you and all the others here all they very best for their interviews. :)

today, CEAC status was updated, so that gives me hope. Plus, he's discovered that he can talk to a live person until 8pm, so he's calling.

As for the SSN#, yes, he will apply for it asap. Our landlords are a retired married couple, so they don't have to necessarily go by hard and fast rules about having a SSN to be on a lease. I've lived here for 4 years, and our plan is to live here another 4, roughly, so that my stepson can finish school where he'll begin it. My stepson... wow. This isn't just a surreal "some day" anymore, is it? :D

I keep waiting and waiting for you to update with your interview date lady! LOL Hopefully Johan has some luck with that soon!!

As for the SSN, they say to allow 2 weeks for the beneficiary's name to be updated in the system before applying for one. We are going to wait 3 weeks or so after POE. Luckily, he won't have to have his name changed....but I will :)

I agree about how real this is getting. I am getting ready to submit our wedding invitation order (pending approved interview of course) and seeing our names on that fancy paper just made me laugh. I just can't believe it. And discussing plans for NEXT MONTH when he should be here. UGH...I am so ready :) :)
