Johan pointed out just now when I asked him that he doesn't feel trapped. Quote: "after all this expense, we're too broke to go anywhere!" Lol he's been driving the whole time he's been here using his Irish drivers license. He should have his EAD anytime now, and plans to get his cdl, but until then, he's enjoying the good life, gardening, household projects, and preparing for our recent wedding (which was at my sister's house and needed TONS of yard work done!). He is anxious to get back to work though. He's getting antsy to be making some money again. And has a job pending. As for the green card, lord knows when that'll come through. Los Angeles seems to be pretty back logged.

sometimes I really do enjoy it too.

I worked hard back home and now its nice to sleep in and take care of the doggy and work in our little garden.

but also the money is running low and I was always able to support myself. now I´m very dependant on my hubby. Its a weird feeling.

But maybe something good also to learn that you can rely on your partner.

doesnt hurt to work and make my own money now though :D

Hi all!!!

Haven't been on here in awhile as i was patiently awaiting my visa....

On my birthday, Oct 20, i received a call from the consulate.....and was given the best gift ever!!!! I was approved!!!!! by Thursday i had my visa in my hands......coincidentally Noah had booked his ticket months ago to fly in for my bday weekend so that allowed us to have a baby shower\going away party.....and i was able to fly home with him.....after everything, i am finally back home, in my apartment with boxes everywhere...... lol

So now onto the next steps.......anyone have any advice as to how long to wait before i can apply for my ssn? Is it better to get married first? Or after?

hi!! happy birthday, welcome home! Yes, you can get your SSN now. I'd do it in the next few days, BEFORE you get married. Johan arrived on a friday night and applied for his the following monday with zero problems. He had the card within a week. :)

he only took his passport. You can take a copy of the I-94, but it's in the system already.

he only took his passport. You can take a copy of the I-94, but it's in the system already.

I was not given an I94....the customs guy just said...welcome to the states and made jokes with us.....

I hope that wont be an issue

I followed this two weeks after my arrival in the US and had no problem to obtain a SSN.

My status updated this morning to my SECOND RFE.I´m so bummed out. I was hoping to see my family in december for my grandmas big birthday,but it seems quite difficult to get approved by then..so sad :(

has anyone else gotten RFE´s yet?

We mailed ours in September and we're still waiting for EAD/AP to come through.. It's driving us crazy waiting for it!! Living off of one income isn't ideal, but Rich is getting antsy and is really looking forward to working! Haha has anyone gotten EAD recently??

We sent ours in early Oct. Had biometrics on Monday. No updates whatsoever on the website. My man is looking forward to working as well.

Grats on getting all the paperwork done and mailed out! So far, our AOS has been fairly non-eventful. We have atlanta as a local service center. They are backed up, with the site saying they are processing 485s from March.... fun fun. :clock:

K-1 Visa -  Date of arrival to US  Aug 30, 2014

Married September 26, 2014

AOS: SEPT 24th, 2015 GREEN CARD RECEIVED !! 

ROC:  Oct 10, 2018    Approval of ROC via online USCIS site.  

Naturalization: March 26th, 2021 Approved!!

As of 2022, we are working towards moving back to Australia likely in 2025.
