For those who have tied the knot already.. When you went to apply for the marriage license, did you have to bring any of your visa information? Or just birth certificate and passport/form of ID?

I was going to have Rich bring his birth certificate, passport, and copy of his I-94. Did you bring anything else with you? Also, did you check "Legal alien allowed to work" or "legal alien NOT allowed to work." ?

I was expecting trouble at the SS office because I'd heard that some officers were unaware that k1's could apply, but my officer was the NICEST and it all went off without a hitch! I was so happy.

We haven't done it yet, but here in California, I think you only need government issued ID.

I've been so busy lately because I'm about to graduate college here in Germany! My fiance is in the middle of his transit from his overseas duty station so it's been a little crazy the past few weeks haha! However, we finally set a wedding date a few weeks ago and figured out how and where we want to get married :) And, I finally got my flight!

Tina, congratulations! On all of it. When do you arrive? ?

Ok guys and gals I need your help getting to the bottom of this.

Question for the Montreal girls Rachel & Robynne.......

Did you both have the official letter from the bank stating your sponsor's date acct opened, amount of deposits for the last 12 months, and current balance for the interview? We are pretty sure this is what Montreal is asking for now since I did not give him this. If you guys both had it, maybe its a requirement. If you didn't have it, maybe they are trying to say my income is short and want to fill the gap with assets. If this is the issue, I have NO idea why the lady didn't catch this at the interview. I would appreciate any feedback so I can gauge where they are coming at with this :D

Per the guidelines my income is enough, but I have read threads where Montreal wants you to be well over the 125%.

Ok so I am going to just lay out my income situation and will welcome any feedback on this as well...

Income requirement for household of 3 at 125%: $24737

On the I-134 I put my base salary of $26915. I often work overtime so my income on my 2013 tax return is $27525. Since my salary fluctuates (some weeks I work 36 hours, some 40, some 44) my boss put that I work an average of 40 hours at $12.94 per hour ($12.94X40 hoursX52 weeks=$26915) on the employer letter. Which right now I have actually been working 44 hours per week for quite a while...making more. I run a small town Post Office and don't have an assistant right now.

The bank letter I just got yesterday states my deposits for the last 12 months of $30809 in checking and $4307 in savings and current balances of $560 and $2300. I have read they use a 1:3 ratio when using assets which would only add an extra $950 to my income amount using my current balances. ($26915+$950=$27865)

So basically...am I analyzing the ####### out of this for just missing a form? Or is my income an issue and I just don't see it? I feel like they would have said in the new email that my income doesn't meet the guidelines if this is the case.

Any opinions appreciated! :)

I thought the same! I saw people on the Yelp review page for my clerk's office that you needed more. Some were asked for parents places of birth, address, social, etc! I am getting back into the phase of being overly paranoid about every little thing haha. I already have huge typed out checklists for everything we have to do once he gets here (find a new apartment, get him a SS number and a state ID, apply for marriage license, get joint bank account, change my name, etc!) and everything for AOS! I'm crazy! haha  It's kind of fun organizing it all though.. Wow, I really must be crazy!

Hey Hun

Yes we had a statement from Noah's bank stating date it was opened, balance etc. I am not sure if its a requirement but I do believe it is suggested.....

Unfortunately I cannot comment on if your salary is an issue..... as I am in a different situation.... although it would be stupid for Montréal to have a problem with your salary as it is more than obviously enough as per guidelines stated.

Now I am thinking if I should send in more information with my 221G stuff...... like up to date banking info etc......urgh!!!

I think you should send in that statement from the bank as well as any other up to date information you may hv pertaining to your finances.....

Positives vibes!!!

Thanks girl! I have been in panic mode and my mind is all over the place with it all. I am thinking this is something required that we (and the interviewer) both overlooked and I am SO happy that Montreal didn't just outright deny us and is giving us this chance. I think they do have a heart haha :)

I am sure a lot of people make more than me, but what they don't consider is how CHEAP my living expenses are in small town Indiana. I live very comfortably. The same income in California would not get me as far :D

We are sending the bank letter and 12 months worth of statements on Monday and they will get them Tuesday. TAKE #2 :D I hope this will do the trick!

By the way, I am actually surprised by how quick they work on your case after they get the documents. It only took 8 business days to get the updates, but the longest part was waiting to see what the problem was.

We can apply for a marriage license online and the form does ask for parents' names and birth places. So yes, there is more needed, but in terms of documents, just ID (I hope!). Has he told you when he's arriving yet?

I can personally vouch for this! ?

As far as a bank statement, I didn't get anything formal for Johan's interview in Dublin. I did, however, send printouts of deposits for the last year. I have no idea if they looked at it or not. All he said they focused on was my 2013 tax transcript. I imagine this is what they are looking for from you. I hope for your sake they don't come back with, "oh, and now we need..."

Haha, I know!

The reason we're thinking they just want this letter is because they didn't specifically say my income wasn't enough and we needed a cosponsor. I think they would have said: Proof of Income for Beneficiary to not become a public burden or something like that if that was the case. Certainly, the CO reviewing our case made sure this was all they needed before sending the letter requesting it LOL.....Although nothing would surprise me at this point.

I may only be ~$3000 over the line, but I am OVER the line! :D And actually I also receive child support which can be seen in my deposit total. I hope they take all of this into consideration.

Your income definitely meets the requirements.

Stephan and I did not have a bank letter or bank statements. Our co-sponsor did not either. I really have no idea why they are asking you for that. I would just send in your bank letter, and anything else you think would round out your financial picture. I can't imagine how frustrating this is for you. Boo Montreal!

.

Ok guys and gals I need your help getting to the bottom of this.

When you fill out the marriage license you do have to give all your parents info. I did, at least. It was all on my birth certificate, though. Good luck! :D
