Child dies after being pulled from cruise ship pool

A 4-year-old child died after being pulled unresponsive from a swimming pool on a Norwegian Cruise Line ship off the coast of North Carolina on Monday, cruise line and Coast Guard officials said. Crew members were able to revive a 6-year-old boy also found in the pool. He was airlifted to a hospital, where his condition was unknown.

The two children were found in the morning on the Norwegian Breakaway, the cruise line said in an announcement on its Facebook page. The statement did not give the ages of the children, but Coast Guard Petty Officer Adam SanSoucie said they were 4 and 6.

No racism cuz no indoor pools. Ergo, Indoor pools are racist, got it. Won't swim indoors again.

That, and the cruise ship was never leaving North Carolina for another port.

I went on an Alaskan cruise in March of 2003, the pool on that ship got a bunch of use. Imagine?

Terrible story,

years ago we had a local case of a pair of twins drowning.

How the parents from this incident go from holiday to worst nightmare...is hard to grasp.

Truly sad. I had a friend whose young son drowned last year, and he was just devastated.

Losing a parent, grandparent, aunt, etc. to old age/normal causes is bad enough. But to lose a child... I just cannot imagine the pain and suffering. It's going to be hard for them to ever enjoy a vacation, I imagine. Or much else in life for a while.

Not to do a public service announcement, but.... a lot of toddlers drown in those 5 gal buckets half full, they reach inside, fall in and it's over.

keep that in mind if little ones are about.
