I think we've all been at a gas station where some dude, usually a black dude but sometimes a white boy with country music, leaves his music blaring and windows down while he's getting gas or whatever. It is a mild inconvenience to me and I usually think, "idiot" while I'm getting in to my car. I do not need to take on "fixing" society. When I leave, his influence on my day is completely over.

I agree but not everyone thinks that way and that is the problem. Believe it or not but some people get pleasure from bringing harm to others. They deserve what they get.

I will grant you that on occasion, someone will be targeted and singled out by an overly aggressive youth. Would you grant me that in some cases, the empowerment that comes with carrying can lead one to escalate a situation that one should probably walk away from?

I'm a scrawny 46 year old wimpy guy with a heart condition. I'm past the point in my life where if I get in a fight with somebody we later become good friends. That's when I was like 8 years old. Now, if I get in a fight, I'll probably die right on the spot. So, I make it a point of not getting in fights. However, if I'm attacked, I definitely should have the right to defend myself with a gun; since I really don't want to die.

Of course, I would first have to go buy a gun but that's not the point. I have the right to defend myself, if attacked.

Right now, if attacked, my strategy is run away crying. Luckily, I haven't had to use that technique yet.

Well that simply isn't true, I'm afraid. Those guys were religious extremists who targeted the barracks because it was their specific intention to kill a soldier because they thought it would make some political point. I might as well say the Boston marathon bombing was part of your culture, but I won't because that's stupid.

He was an off duty soldier carrying his kit. The two guys ran him over with their car from behind and then hacked his unconscious body in the street.

So no, concealed carry would not have helped.
