Hi, I just received my IR-1 Approved with entering expire date 30Aprial14, I'm planning to visit US b/w 15-21Aprial for ONE week and than go back to my current job for proper handover of my duties and selling car and other stuff for 2 months and planning to fly back to US in mid of Jul-14.

I heard that once you entered US at border they stamp I-551 with one year validation of GC until get physical GC, as in my case i will not able to get my physical GC in sort time of staying in US.

Kindly let me know, am i going to get any issue to re-entering US after fly out within one week of migration? and coming back after 2-3 months later.

One more thing, as my current passport is going to expire in August 14, I'm also planning to renew it when I will go back to my current job.

Is there going to be any issue at POE, if my IR-1 VISA is on my old passport which will be cancelled by gov to provide me new passport?

From what I have read that wouldn't be an issue but if I was you I would try to have a US residence lined up where someone can reliably check the mail so you can pay the fee and get the ball rolling on the physical Green Card. Re-entry with a stamp in your old passport shouldn't be an issue, just make sure you get your old passport back and they don't destroy it, they will typically just cut off the identifying strip on the front cover of older passports, not sure what they do with the new ones, probably just cut out the entire page with the chip.

Thanks, well my plan is to provide my spouse family address so there will be no issue to receive any mail regards to Green Card and other mails until i come back and looking for my own home.

old passport they just normally stamp CANCEL on it. So i presume that it should be OK.
