I am a Canadian hoping to move to the U.S. this summer for a wedding. Our Visa application was just approved, and I haven't received my paperwork yet from the consulate in Vancouver, B.C., but in reading the interview wait times, I notice that they are booking into May already.

Once I get the letter from them which indicates in detail what I need to bring to the interview, should I book immediately even if I haven't gathered everything, or just wait until I have most of the documents?

Thanks.

You don't call to book the interview. You use a special website. You normally book a few months out from the date you get your P4. You book it right away, just that the date available probably won't be for at least a month.

Don't wait for a letter, you can email the embassy to have everything emailed to you instead- a much faster process. Like nlr mentioned, you book your interview online via special website and I also suggest doing this asap, as you won't be able to book your medical until you have booked your interview. I booked my interview first and then compiled everything I didn't already have completed for the interview. Good Luck!

First. Go to your local RCMP office and get your certificate of no conviction/criminal records check.

Second. Check your passport - when does it expire? It's cheaper to renew on the Canadian end and you need at least six months validity from when you plan on entering.

Third. Medical records. If you don't have your vaccine records you can get a blood test done to see what you need, Aaand then get up to date on that.

Lastly, Vancouver consulate is pretty good about email responses on any questions you may have.
