Husband was scheduled for Biometrics appt. on Tuesday, does that mean it is cancelled? I called the misinformation line and the lady whom answered said she had not heard anything and if he doesn't show up they will deny our case. Anyone know?

My girlfriend's husband works for the IRS and he is off on Tuesday..... apparently, it is a Federal employee holiday.

I dont think it is a national holiday for the federal empolees.. I think it is because Pres. Ford will be buried in MI. So that is why GWB made it a holiday.

Yes all government offices are closed. The least we can do for someone who did so much. Show up anyways just in case.

It is customary for there to be a day of rememberance when a former President dies. In this case, Pres. Bush has made it January 2. All federal and most state offices willbe closed that day. Sorry, but your biometrics appoointment is postponed. I would go the following day...

The VA hospital and clinics will be open as usual as they did not want to cancel patient appointments.

We will receive holiday pay for the day but will be staffed as a normal day.

But I think this is one of the few exceptions of not being closed on Tuesday.

USCIS Announces the Closing of Agency Offices on January 2, 2007

Action Follows Designation of a National Day of Mourning Honoring President Ford

WASHINGTON – U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced today that agency offices will be closed on Tuesday, January 2, 2007. All appointments and interviews originally scheduled for Tuesday are postponed. USCIS will reschedule those appointments and notify customers of the new appointment schedule.

Customers with an INFOPASS appointment are reminded that USCIS cannot reschedule for them. The customer will need to use INFOPASS to schedule a new appointment at a time that is convenient. INFOPASS is available from the home page of the USCIS website at www.uscis.gov.

USCIS’ announcement follows yesterday’s proclamation by President Bush marking January 2, 2007 as a National Day of Mourning allowing the Nation to pay respects following the death of President Gerald R. Ford, 38th President of the United States.

More information about this announcement is available by calling USCIS National Customer Service Center toll-free at (800) 375-5283.
