Is letter from Employer Mandatory?

Hi,

We went through the London Embassy and I was specifically asked for my fiance's letter from his employer, so I would have it just in case...good luck!!

It is not mandatory. If you didn't have one, London would have been fine with other proof.

They're not complete asses at the Embassies. The COs take every case by its merits and take your evidence into consideration. It isn't "have an employer letter or be denied". We are using a joint sponsor and my husband was with me at the interview, and he had been unemployed for a while. The CO looked at all of our evidence and made a comment about my work history in the UK, so he thought it unlikely that I would end up a public charge. They look at the big picture and take it all into consideration.

I know my fiance does not have a very good job history. Will that effect him? Meanwhile I've always had a very strong work history and make over %125 of the requirement.

He could be unemployed and your case would not be affected, the fact you make over 125% is all that matters. Stop worrying or you will never make it to the end of the process sane

Like I said, my husband (USC) is unemployed and has been for a while. They care more about the US citizen's work history and their ability to meet the poverty guidelines, so if it wasn't an issue for me, I'm sure it won't be for you. Your main issue is your worrying over every tiny issue.

Beneficiary work history is essentially irrelevant (unless he was working in arms sales in Afghanistan....).

You should talk to your lawyer more if you're so worried. You're paying someone to make this easy for you, so you should take advantage of it. And if your lawyer doesn't know the answers to the questions you've been posting here, he's not worth his fee.
