Okay my husband and I are completely clueless about this I guess and have just been following the things that the government has been sending us.

Let me give a little background information.

We got married on Jan 4th 2013 in Glasgow, he is a UK citizen and I am a US citizen.

In the following weeks we sent in for an i-129f petition and just on December 31st of 2013 it got approved. I was told I needed to file the petetion in order to get him approved as a relative, because you can't file for a green card until you do this. (Am I correct on this part?)

They send me a letter saying "The NVM received your spouse's approved I-129f petition from the USCIS. The NVM will now forward the petition to the US Embassy or Consulate in LONDON. The US Embassy or Consulate will contact your spouse when they are ready to process his or her petition. In the meantime please have your pouse complete for DS-160 to apply for a K visa"

Now I had someone on this site tell me that we shouldn't be doing a K visa, we should be filing for a CR-1? When I went to message them they ignored it, so now I'm really confused. We've been apart for over a year now and just really want to get him to the states so we can start going back to school and finally be together.

Can anyone help with this please?

In your timeline you have... I see that now. If you could fill out the rest of it until now that would be great. Thanks!

If you want to chase the K3 visa and the I-130 isn't approved yet, but the I-129F is at the embassy then by all means, chase the K3. It means an adjustment of status in the USA (which is another $1070) but without an approved I-130 you don't really have a choice unless you want to wait for the I-130 to be approved and sent to the embassy.

The K3 is a multi entry visa but your spouse cannot work until his EAD is approved from the AOS.

The i-130 was approved December 27th 2013. So do we need to file a CR-1 then? What's that process like?

Okay so I sent in an I-130 as well and it was approved in December 2013. Just around the same time the i-129 f was. So is the CR-1 Visa the way to go? How does it all work?

yes the CR1 is the best way. Read this post, go over the first two posts quite a few times. Keep in mind that you now do online forms for the beneficiary but send in the packages to the NVC.

You'll want to call the NVC asap and get your case number to get this process started!
