States With Worst Roads

Still plodding through the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina over 15 months later, Louisiana has displaced Pennsylvania as having the worst roads in the nation. Never having taken the top spot in the worst roads category, Louisiana is no rookie to the top five on the Highway Report Card, a survey conducted by Overdrive Magazine.

Truck drivers state that I-10 alone is bad enough to qualify Louisiana for the "worst roads" crown; but the rest of the roads are not much better. Hurricane Katrina left nearly everything in its wake a complete disaster in southern Louisiana, but neighboring Texas seems to have fared much better.

Texas was voted number one for not only the best roads but as having the best car drivers and best rest stops of any state as well.

On the negative side, most of the 400 respondents to the survey agreed that road rage increased along with traffic in 2006.

It's interesting to note that California has both the top and bottom five in drivers. That seems a bit odd. Honestly, I miss California drivers after driving in Mississippi for five years. These guys just piss me off down here...they definitely are way too passive to the point of causing an accident. That and someone is always talking on their damn phone or shoving a french fry in their melon everywhere you turn.

I agree with the rating California is number 3 for the best drivers.

These lists are so subjective...what is the criterion?

Top 5 best drivers, Wisconsin!? No way. Those asshats drive in the left lane and pass in the right. Maybe they don't crash as much (if that's what this is based on) but they drive ridiculously badly.

I drove truck for 4 years, and yes I can remember I-40, in Arkansas well. Bump, Bump, Bump, Bump, ....... !!!! Same with I-10 in Louisiana, with the exception of the Causeway In and out of New Orleans.

I-80 was not so bad, but people like to pick it every year and a bad road.

I do remember the rest stops in Texas, they are nasty, no privacy, no stall doors, and low stall walls!

New York roads are really horrible. I don't know what happened but I swear they were much better 2 years ago.
Yes down around NYC there are pot-holes you can loose whole cars in, fortunately western NY tends to not have those problems as much, just the occasional one here or there after a long hard winter.

That's weird - having lived in both New Jersey and Southern California, NJ beats CA hands down for worst roads, and worst drivers.

We had a guy honking at us this evening because we had to wait for an opening in traffic to turn left out of a residential street. I mean... cars coming from both directions... what do they expect you to do?

If you have no place to go to in a hurry i would be a jerk and wait some more. Let him honk some more lol that if it dont create a longer line behind him lol :jest:
