What is the purpose of the ds-261? I am sponsoring my wife who lives in the philippines. I live in the US. We don't have a lawyer. Should I put myself down as the principle contact person? Also, does that mean that I will have to mail any letters I get from them to my wife in the phils? Confused and need guidance...Thanks...

Yes, you should put yourself down at the "principle contact person." As far as any letter you get from the USCIS, if you feel the need to, you can just scan the letter and email a copy to your gal in the Phil. Moreover, you should not need a lawyer for anything!

Also give them your and your wife's email address. Any correspondence from them will come to both of you as an email. It is fast and secure. Postal service in some countries is very unreliable.
