I-751 February 2014 Filers

Can anybody tell what's going on? I am dying waiting now almost 7 months since the NOA date! Does it mean something wrong? Never heard anything back from VSC, no RFE, no acceptance or denial, no nothing, this feeling is killing me

This is getting to be very frustrating! It seems like they forgot the rest of the February filers as they had started on March (one approval and one RFE so far).

We filed our Petition to Remove Conditions with VSC on Jan 31 2014. In May we moved and notified VSC of this and the new address. We received a letter confirming this at our new address.

We waited patiently. For months and months.

On Sept 8th an RFE arrived at our new address. It named us both in the title page but showed our old address. The RFE was dated June 16th and appears to be the original document which was sent to the old address. It arrived at our new address in an envelope postmarked Aug 28th showing that the original RFE of June 16 sat around in either the postal system or VSC offices for over 2 months. The RFE demanded a response by Sept 14th and a call to the Service Center advised that an extension could not be granted regardless We had to rush our response and all supporting documentation we could gather up quickly or face the robotic denial and consequences. There was no time to even consult an attorney. We think the clerk or adjudicator who last mailed the RFE should have at least extended the "Response Due By" date to permit the usual 2-3 months time. But no, it sat around their office for over 2 months and was then unthinkingly re-mailed to our correct address. The address they had confirmed by letter in May!

This unbelievable incompetence encouraged us to also write a complete report to VSC along with all necessary evidence alerting them to the problem so their internal workings can be corrected. We want to ensure others will not be faced with such a potentially catastrophic situation.

Hope none of you EVER have the same experience!

I am so sorry this happened to you. It is terrible. I too got an RFE from VSC and haven't responded to it yet. I believe what triggered it is that my wife and I have two addresses in two different states and we never mentioned the other address and basically showed only one address. We consulted a lawyer and she said it is ok to have two addresses as long as we share a residence in one of the two or even with both. What's weird about the RFE is that my wife's name was not on the letter, it only had my name on it. Also instead of the letter asking for a specific evidence, it made comments on each of the documents we sent and then listed suggestions of what types of evidence we should submit (basically the same suggestions listed on the instructions of the I-751).

I hope you did not receive a letter as intense as mine and really hope you, me and everyone gets through this with ease. We are expecting an interview. The lawyer said we are likely to get an interview since we received an RFE (hope she's wrong about this).

I would really appreciate if you tell us how your RFE looks like? What does it say? I want to compare it with mine because some told me it was a normal one and others told me it was a very intense RFE. Not sure who to believe

Hi, hoping someone can help with this?! We filed our I751 in February 2014 to Vermont...USCIS received package on 02/03/2014...they cashed check few days later and also got my biometrics taken and received extension letter for green card...called last week since I haven't heard anything...the lady was very nice and put a service request in...she said I should hear from uscis in the next 30 days...it took 7 days and I just received an email stating:

The status of this service request is:

Thank you for your inquiry. Your file will be pulled for review and you should receive an update within 45 days.

Also the email shows that it was send from the California service center not Vermont who I send my I751 to?!

Please if anyone has had any similar update I would appreciate it!

Hi Jojo86, Just to clarify I'm a March filler. I also received a RFE from VSC and just replied back this Monday 15th. Our RFE was exactly like yours. My wife didn't appear at first page top. I don't think we should worry about that. I'm saying this because people who gets approved don't see their spouse at the approval letter either.

Our RFE also shows each of the documents they received from us, what are the complains about we sent and then what types of evidence we should submit (basically the same suggestions listed on the instructions of the I-751).

I would suggest you to focus on the complains section. Make sure to provide them with additional documents that can prove that you and your spouse have been sharing the life together since you got married.

The last section (types of evidence we should submit) is mostly like a USCIS standard page with the purpose of providing you with additional information you could also submit which would help them while taking a decision on your case. When I first filled in march, I did send 3 different people affidavits and now it still appears at this section.

​Basically I would suggest you to focus primarily at their complains section and then submit everything else you didn't at the time you were filling (February) which examples are being presented at the types of evidence you should submit.

A great day for me today. I received an email from USCIS today saying my case is approved. They have ordered a new green card for me and I will receive it within the next 30 days. Thank you for this forum's help and I would like to give out my timelines again to summarize:
