Thanks! Sorry guys, one more stupid, minor, probably unimportant question. Should I attach my cover letters to the outside of my envelopes with a paperclip, or should I just have them inside in the front with all the rest of my documents. I wasn't sure if it mattered or made it easier for the USCIS organization-wise, or if they would just open the envelopes and figure out that one was the I-130 and the other was the I-485 (with I-765, I-864, I-693).

To clarify, both of those will be inside a flat-rate usps express envelope.

Just thought I'd ask since I'm about to seal everything up shortly so it's ready for tomorrow.

Thanks all.

Ok this answer is based on what I personally did. I made the cover letters the first documents on top of everything. I then paper-clipped the checks to the cover letters and put them in the folders. So on opening each folder, what you would see first is a cover letter, with a check attached to it..and after the cover letter, The next document was the G-1145.

Okay, thank you.

One last thing, I swear. Looking over my I-485, in the instructions for the I-485 and the I-864, it says to leave parts blank if it is not applicable or none. But in the I-130 it says to put N/A or none. And everyone usually says to never leave things blank... I followed the instructions on the USCIS website so should I have an issue?

Also, for I-485 Part 3a, if I came in via air with a B2 Vistor status, do I have an non-immigrant number?

Much appreciated!

Never leave anything blank! Put NONE or N/A on all the documents

Being Canadian, you don't have a a visa per se to visit.

If you have a visa in your passport with a number on it, then yes you have a non-immigrant number.

Hi, I have couple questions about your checking list.

  1. What is Employment Attachment and do we need to provide it to the USCIS?
  2. My wife lost her birth certificate after she moved to the US, can she replace her US passport for the I130 package?

Thanks

The employment attachment was just a separate page with my employment history because the room they gave me on the g-325a.

You can order new birth certificates easy, I ordered mine from the US and it arrived in a week.

So why does it say so in both the I-864/I-485 instructions? :/ I already sent it off and followed the instructions, so I mean, it wouldn't really make sense for them to RFE me based on their own rules on the USCIS website?

I didn't have much that fell under the "N/A or none" category but yeah. Trying not to be paranoid, but it would seem silly that the instructions would say that...

I heard about that but my wife was born oversea and I dont know where to get that certificate

Most regions have a website, you could probably just search her county or region with "birth certificate records" and see what comes up.

OP: Do not send your packets in different envelopes. They should be in a stack, all together. Use paperclips if you want. There is no need to separate things in different envelopes, and I hope you are not thinking about mailing them in different envelopes.

Use your best judgement on N/A, as I said.

You do not have a visa number, you can travel-visa free as a Canadian.

on my I-864 I did leave some places blank and didn't put None, so I'm sure you'll be fine

You can use a copy of the bio page from a US passport, birth certificate, or naturalization certificate proving US citizenship.

No no, I mailed them in a stack, I used paperclips and just made title pages to separate the different documents. Put in a manila envelope. Then put into a flat-rate express envelope.

I used my best judgement I feel like, just the instructions and then everyone else's word made me question if I had done the right thing.

Thank you.

By documents I meant the forms/sections*

With the I-485 and I-864, it is exactly what the instructions says it is. Leave blank when you have no answer. For the I-130 and G-325A, you fill in None or N/A where it applies. You are correct if you did that and will not get any RFEs..
