Tomorrow my wife and I drive a few hours away to take her civics test and final interview (we hope). It would normally take 1.5 hours to get to the federal building but the weather has gotten really nasty and it looks like tomorrow is going to be bad as well. We are planning on giving ourselves 4 hours to get there instead of the hour and a half that it is supposed to take. My only questions are these:

What happens if there is a wreck or something of that nature? What if something happens and we can't make it? I don't expect this at all but I wondered if anybody had any experience with such an unfortunate event.

Also, is there a chance that the building would close due to weather? If so, how would you find out? We would be leaving before they open.

Thanks,

Bralaheh

Have no idea how to contact the field office, had a major snow storm the day before my stepdaughter's oath ceremony, was suppose to show up at 2:00 PM. Normally allow 4 hours for this trip, road conditions said snow covered, so we left at 6:00 AM. Weren't quite that bad, one lane on I-94 was clear so could drive a the speed limit, other was snow covered and traffic was light. So we ended up having 3 1/2 hours to spare.

But did check at our field office first to make sure they were opened, how else can you find out? Mall of America was only six blocks away so killed time there, wife and daughter had a blast, I was bored stiff, but found a spot to nap. Were done getting that piece of paper at 3:30 PM to beat the traffic and made it home by 7:30 PM. Call this pure luck because the next day, another major snow storm.

Made darn sure my car was in good shape before leaving, not getting caught in a traffic jam or an accident is good luck. Just pray for good luck. Recall driving through Kentucky during an ice rain. Pray you don't get one of these.
