I have to say immigration process has got to be the only part of my life where I'm ever excited to see my check cashed and happy for other people's checks being cashed as well! Yay to progress!

Lol yeah I agree. I keep checking my bank account to see if the check has been cashed. What is NOA? I didn't sign up for the email/text alerts. Is that what it is?

NOA means Notice of Action. In the context of naturalization, it's the letter they mail you to let you know they've officially accepted your submission and will start processing it.

Timeline:

2005-04-14: met online

2005-09-03: met in person

2007-02-26: filed for K-1

2007-03-19: K-1 approved

2007-06-11: K-1 in hand

2007-07-03: arrived in USA

2007-07-21: got married, yay!

2007-07-28: applied for green card

2008-02-19: conditional green card in hand

2010-01-05: applied for removal of conditions

2010-06-14: 10-year green card in hand

2013-11-19: applied for US citizenship

2014-02-10: became a US citizen

2014-02-22: applied for US passport

2014-03-14: received US passport

03/14/2014 - USCIS mailed an appointment notice for biometic

03/15/2014 - Recive the form I-797C, Notice of Action (priority date 3/6/2014)

03/17/2014 - Recive the Biometic notice

04/04/2014 - Biometic appointment (done)

04/08/2014 - Placed in line for interview scheduling

04/30/2014 - Interview scheduled

05/05/2014 - Interview notice recieve

06/05/2014 - Interview (approved)

I just received my text message and the email:

Your case has been accepted and routed to the USCIS National Benefits Center for processing. Within 7-10 days by standard mail you will receive your official Receipt Notice (Form I-797)

Sent my paperwork off today. I could have done it in July 2011 based on marriage, now its been over 5yrs I can just do it the simple way based on time.

Every time I thought about it in the last 2.5 years, I either a) didn't have 680 bucks in the bank or b) was about to move house / thinking about changing jobs or c) couldn't remember whether I'd filed an AR11 the last time I moved house, so had as my next step to check into that.

Finally its done! feels good to be on the path citizenship :)

I just received my text message and the email:

Your case has been accepted and routed to the USCIS National Benefits Center for processing. Within 7-10 days by standard mail you will receive your official Receipt Notice (Form I-797)

Yay!!!

YAYYY!! Isn't such a nice surprise to get that text message?

Sent my paperwork off today. I could have done it in July 2011 based on marriage, now its been over 5yrs I can just do it the simple way based on time.

Every time I thought about it in the last 2.5 years, I either a) didn't have 680 bucks in the bank or b) was about to move house / thinking about changing jobs or c) couldn't remember whether I'd filed an AR11 the last time I moved house, so had as my next step to check into that.

Finally its done! feels good to be on the path citizenship smile.png
