Oath Ceremony

On October 6, 2014, we placed your application in the oath scheduling que. We will send a notice when the ceremony is scheduled. If you move prior to the scheduled ceremony, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

Naturalization Applicants: you will receive your certificate at your oath ceremony. You can expect to be scheduled for an oath ceremony within 45 days of receiving your recommended approval. Many offices schedule approved applicants for the oath ceremony on the same day as the day of the interview. Please check the local office profile page on our website to determine if the office where you will be interviewed schedules same day oath ceremonies.

Awesome!! I got the same notice yesterday too! I didn't expect it as I had my interview on Oct. 3.

I finally had my interview yesterday in Houston, yay!

First off, the Houston USCIS office is nasty, the restrooms looked like what I imagine jail restrooms look like. I've never been to any other USCIS facility so maybe that's typical, but ew. Glad I did not drink a massive soda before arriving. Homeland Security showed up in 3 big SUVs to escort someone who was being deported while we were waiting too which was kind of sad.

I was first to be called out of the 12pm appointments, the officer took me to her office, I took the oath, then we did the reading and writing portion. After the civics test she went through my application and asked me to confirm some of the info, then had me sign the form. She informed me that I had been approved, then asked if my husband was here for his interview too, he is scheduled for next week because our applications somehow got apart from each other when we filed them. I then had to wait another hour for the letter to take to the ceremony which is October 22nd, she said that my husband should still make it to that ceremony because they try to keep the list open until the day before. She also said our 10 year old daughter could stand and take the pledge with us, since she will automatically become a citizen when we do, she also recommended we file N600 for her but we'll wait a while I think as it's expensive.

So glad we are almost there!
