I have to agree with you Darth Vader ___, at least for March 2014 filers, red updates should be done after actual Oath Ceremony is completed and you have received your certificate. It doesn't make sense to do it before, since you're not a US Citizen yet.

I guess every month filers thread choses their own format as we March 2014 filers have.

I'm not sure there's anything to accommodate since here in the March 2014 thread, we have debated many things, but equivocating on when to finalise a member's timeline based on the oath date has never been one of them. In this thread, it's worked out quite nicely. I'm not an April 2014 filer, so I have no need or motivation to review that thread.

Please, don't things personally. I am not making attacks or accusations as you have repeatedly claimed.

Anyway, are you a March filer? When are you expecting your own oath ceremony scheduling?

Yay!!! Great news!!! Congratulations!!!

It's interesting how we all were scheduled for the same Oath date.

Updating my Oath ceremony date! :)

I received the letter this morning and it was a huge surprise to find out it is scheduled for August 27.

Thank you Missicy and Mistere for your positive thoughts :) It seems that all the March applicants from Chatsworth, Oxnard and San Bernardino have received our Oath ceremony dates!

It's interesting how field offices process some applications faster than others, aneczka (March 2014 Detroit filer) had her/his Oath fairly quick, less than four months.

Did you call USCIS recently? I called them last Monday, and the Tier 2 officer I talked to said that I should wait until October to place a service request.

Great news Newoption!! Are you guys (Mistere, Newoption, Ju&Ja) scheduled for the 2pm ceremony or the one in the morning?

Another question: my GC was stolen in January, I applied for a replacement in February. At my naturalization interview the officer had me write and sign a sworn statement about lost GC, gave me a copy and told me to bring it to the ceremony. I hadn't heard anything about my I90 application until a few days ago when I received an update saying my address has been changed - I never changed my address so that was confusing. Then yesterday I received another update saying my I90 has been approved so I assume I should be receiving my new GC soon. Do I bring both the GC and the statement about lost GC to the ceremony or just GC (if I receive it before the ceremony)? If I receive the new GC after the ceremony what do I do with it? Im guessing return it to uscis?

My Immigration Journey:

K1: June 2010 - December 2010

AOS: April 2011 - June 2011

ROC: April 2013 - August 2013

Naturalization: March 2014 - August 2014

To all fellows, applying for a passport and thinking about getting the passport card in addition to it: you may not wanna pay the extra money for the card.

On the way back from Canada I was asked for another identification on top of the passport card to prove who I was. I was let in after a few minutes but the whole thing so did not make a sense.

So yeah. Stick to the passport book. That's what I think.

9 days 'till naturalization!! :dancing: :joy:

I have 2 questions for anyone how may know:

1) Are we required/advised to bring pictures to the oath ceremony? I'm looking at my oath letter and it's not mentioned, but I seem to remember someone mentioning it(??) Then again, maybe I don't remember correctly.

2) This is passport related: I am doing a name change. Basically taking husband's last name and keeping my current last name as a middle name. My US passport will be issued with this new information. My European (EU) passport has my current name and it's not due for renewal for another few years. For those who may not know, having an EU passport allows you access to all EU countries and it typically speeds up waiting time at passport control, as opposed to international visitors. They also don't stamp your passport but rather wave you in, and they don't put your details in the system to start the countdown for when you are supposed to leave the country as a visitor. I plan to visit my home country and also the UK to see some friends. Does anyone know if it is permissible to use my EU passport at passport control once in the UK instead of the US passport, even though the names in the two passports would be slightly different (EU passport=First name+last name// US passport=first name+current last name as middle name+ husband's last name). Not to mention my home country who has issued my passport and whose citizenship I'm retaining - it would feel beyond ridiculous to wait in the international line at passport control and use my US passport in the country where I was born and raised  Do the people at passport control have access to flight information, and is the slight difference in names likely to cause trouble/confusion? I was planning on making the bookings with my new US name and using my US passport at check-in, but I was wondering if I could instead use my European passport once at passport control in Europe, since they don't normally ask to see boarding passes etc.

Hope what I'm asking makes sense.

Yes Christi, of course you can enter EU with your EU passport. Actually, I think you are supposed to use your EU passport when entering EU, just like you are supposed to use your US passport to enter the US.

Thanks missicy. That's exactly what I thought.

My reservation is that the two passports will have slightly different names. In a hypothetical scenario: my maiden name is Mary Smith and husband's name is Brown, so my name on the EU passport will be Mary Smith, while my name on my US passport will be Mary Smith Brown (Smith becoming a middle name). So I was concerned whether this could cause confusion or even trouble. It also raises the question, under which name to book the flights. It never occured to me until now that I'm thinking about my trip. As much as I love being able to take hubby's name at last after 4 years of marriage, I now half wish that I hadn't requested a name change, as I'm afraid it will make things much more complicated with my traveling now and in the future. Ugh!

hi hi,

on 6/13 I received the 'yellow' letter -- basically a letter from uscis printed on yellow colored paper saying to bring my green card, passport(s) and driver's license to the interview. then on 8/16, I received the letter with the interview date. confusing isn't it? from what I've read from other posters seems that they get the yellow letter after the interview is scheduled, my case seems to be going in a different direction lol

christi85, I understand what you're going thru. I'm planning to do the same thing, keep my maiden last name as a middle name and take my husband's last name as my own. I would rather keep my maiden name but this is important for my husband for me to take his name -- its a small gesture to make him happy. after all he is giving up his life to move to the USA for me :)

Christi the only time your passport is checked against the flight list is at check in, so as long as you check in for your flight with the passport that shows the name you are traveling under, you will be fine. Just take both with you and show the relevant one at border control and check in. Border control only checks that your passport is valid, and that it looks like you, that's it.

My yellow letter was dated 6/26 and I haven't had my interview letter yet. I was hoping it would come quickly after but it didn't. I'm planning to call at the end of the week since it will be 15 days since I called about it being 90 days past my queue date.

Thank you all who took time to answer my question!

An airport official at Athens Airport actually advised me to just book the tickets in both names (e.g. Christi SmithBrown), so that the airline(s) can see both names, and then use the corresponding passport when dealing with immigration at each country. They said this is done quite often and they see it quite a lot. So I'm tempted to just do that.

Happy Chic - I rang my local Consulate yesterday and spoke to a really nice lady, but she didn't strike me as particularly being on top of things. So I may have to ring back to try to speak to the actual passport person who happened to not be in at the time I called. The nice lady I spoke to seemed to think that I would be able to get an updated passport, though not for free, but like I said, I'm taking what she told me with a big grain of salt. The other problem with the Greek Consulate is that passport issuance is handled through Greece. This means, you can apply at the Consulate, submit pictures etc. but they forward everything to Greece and it is then sent back. Which means the whole process through the Consulate takes 6-8 weeks, plus up to a month to get an appointment in the first place. So even if I was to do that, I don't think I'd have time before my trip. Once in Greece, I may see if I can have it updated there.

chantal356 - I know what you're saying. I'm actually happy to take my husband's name (much easier to pronounce than my funny Greek name), I just wish I could avoid all the complexities that come with it

I'm notice based on your timeline that they took 6 1/2 months after your interview before you got your oath date. Are there so many persons naturalizing in your state? :wow:
