I'm not that desperate for art.

Hitler was twice rejected from the art university he applied to in Vienna because it was deemed that he did not have great artistic talent.

Right on. Someone else mentioned Roman Polanski who, as a person, may be considered scum of the earth but who is also a brilliant artist.

Chinatown and Rosemary's Baby are great films. They have nothing to do with Polanski's personal life and that doesn't make them any less accomplished.

Suppose someone raped and killed a persons mother.... would it be reasonable for this same person to say

" You know he did a terrible thing to my mom but, they guy is a great artist and on that level I bought a painting and just love it."

I'm not sure where the line is but perhaps a person can cross a line where people should do as the Amish do.... Shun them.

It's like the well is poisoned and because of his despicable acts and how society responds, it is a lesson or warning to all others who would sodomize a child, that you are a pariah and your art is nothing more than a reminder of you.

However if you take that view you're throwing out not only polanski and woody allen, but people like Picasso and Salvador Dali as well.
