I know what the requirements are i guess the delay continues

As i stated our friends don't fit in with the requirements. Thanks

NVC gives you 1 year per thing to submit.

1. 1 year for the I-864 and

2. 1 year for the DS-260

so

if'n you can, plan accordingly !

Who says this father doesn't care about his child? It's better for them to be apart and not wondering how they're going to pay for their next meal, than together and doing that. The father can still talk to his child and skype when available. Living in the USA is not cheap. There is no way I could live here on my income alone, I have no idea how people at my work do it unless they're working two jobs!

You made a rather bold assumption that because this father is in school, trying to better his life and make sure he can get a job to support his family, that he doesn't care about his child which is seriously erroneous.

I'm afraid you misunderstood what I was saying - I was saying exactly what you are saying: it is better that the child is with his father (and mother), who probably really cares about him. It is sad that the immigration system can sometimes force families apart, money is nothing compared to the value of a family being together. Sheesh!

I must have misunderstood. However I also don't believe that families need to be together. It's why I am separated from my ex-boyfriend. We both love our daughter, just not each other.

While it would be awesome for this family to bet together, the government feels that unless the USC can show that they can support the beneficiary, they cannot move here. I don't know a government that doesn't have some sort of financial stipulation on income but if you find one be sure to make a new post about it in the off topic or general immigration forum.

What??? What the heck are you doing filling for paperwork then? Just want a green card?

Some of you are being unnecessarily harsh on the OP.

OP, someone suggested you ask a church. That is a GREAT idea.

Or, go talk to an immigration lawyer that gives a free consultation and see what he/she suggests. I am sure there are tons of people in your situation.

Can all the relatives there pool the monies together to put in husbands American account so he can qualify on assets?

That's borderline visa fraud that could result in the i-130 filer in jail for very long time and a huge huge fine

What about adding someone in the same household as a dependent ? This would raise the poverty level , but maybe that will help . Others with more knowledge can give better details if that can be done , but I thought I saw that option on the I-864 . If that is not enough then maybe putting school on hold and a new job and extra dependent will be .

I think you misread the quoted post: I'm pretty sure s/he was making a hypothetical comparison, not commenting on the OP's husband's concern for his child.

OP, someone suggested you ask a church.

Uhm, my ex boyfriend is back in Canada. I live in the USA with my husband. I did have a laugh at a Canadian just wanting a green card though.

You must have misunderstood the bolded part. I dont believe in staying together just for children, which is why I'm separated from my ex who is the father of my child. I think if both parents love the child they can raise the child to be a perfectly functioning adult. Obviously the ideal would be for both parents to love each other too, like the OP and her husband, whom I hope can find a solution.

The church idea is a good one though. I have heard people have sucess with that.

I think you misread the quoted post: I'm pretty sure s/he was making a hypothetical comparison, not commenting on the OP's husband's concern for his child.

yeah we figured that out. I did misunderstand what they were trying to say. If I havent already, I apologize to that poster. Back to topic now. Edited by NLR

Not to be rude but nobody should be making assumptions. We will be able to support our family we have a very strong connection with both sides of our family and they help us only thing is they all live here in the Cayman Islands and if they could have done the affidavit I would be set but it has to be someone who is domicile to the US and working and we don't know alot of people.

My husband is a student and he is not living off of government his mother helps him. And I was living in the states 3 months at a time on my British Passport with our son not working and not living off of the government my father was helping and also my mother in law was helping.

So before any one asks how we are gonna support ourselves leave us to decide that if i knew we would suffer we would not migrate thank you very much

Can you possibly get a family member or a friend to help you? I don't work I am in school about to apply to graduate school. I also have a daughter and my mom helps me with everything! She is my fiance's sponsor. I hope everything works out for you. Good Luck!!

All the people i know don't qualify to be a joint sponsor, my husbands a student and our assets are no where near to requirements.

What can i do now ? ? These last 6 months have been painful.

This is really a question of priorities. If family is the priority, your husband can defer his studies, or change to part time, and go to work. If education is the priority, then family life will be deferred.
