Affidavit I 864 Assets question

Hi there,

I'm filling I 864 form for my daughter and my income is not enough. Me and my husband own a home and we'd like to use it as assets. There is unclear on the instruction, if we own together and I'm going to attach an appraisal, does my husband need to fill the I 864A form? I want to use only the value of our home not my husband's income.

Hello I don't really have an answer for you, but wanted to add that you can include your property tax stub that you recently got in December as well. This lists the value. I would think if the home is in both of your names you both would have to fill one out, but don't hold me to that. I am also putting down my home as an asset because I don't make enough. I am trying to get a co sponsor to help.

If you only own half of the home, then you can only use half of the appraised net value.

If you want to include the other half of the net asset value of the home which belongs to your spouse, then he would need to sign the I-864a.

So. That exactly what I'm trying to do. Do i need to divide the value on appraisal and show half on my I 864 and sign and another half of the value show on I 864 A and my husband should sign?
