Am I the only one who is looking at the relationship angle as well....?

Spending a few years in INS detention isn't good for relationships either (has happened to people). But yeah, I would agree that this is not a reasonable excuse for not arguing with your spouse. We all know big brother is listening.

I Holland last year, I was woken in my hotel room at 7:00 AM. They took my passport and disappeared. (I had a Dutch Verblifsdocument - kind of like a green card). I was there legally. The reason the Dutch had for entering my hotel room without a warrant, and taking my passport? Fighting terrorism.) No - I wasn't breaking any laws. They just randomly did this on Friday mornings, as I later found out.

I would be very upset if this happened to me in the States. (Being out of town and having your ID confiscated is a real pain - no hotels, can't use banks, no rental cars, no air travel...)

I think I need a tin foil hat too :)
