Hello,

Does anyone know what type of tax return form to file from? Is it 1040, 1040EZ, 1040A...etc? What is the difference?

11/07/13 - Filed for I-129F

12/20/13 - NOA2 approved

01/13/14 - NVC Received; new case # issued

01/16/14 - NVC Shipped to US Embassy

02/18/14 - DS-160 submitted ; Packet 3 with all required docs sent to Embassy

03/20/14 - Medical

04/10/14 - Interview smile.png

04/10/14 - 221(g) form; missing updated police certificate

It depends on whether you itemize deductions. If you own a home then you'd fill out the 1040 for example.

If you are doing taxes yourself, you might want to use an online tax preparation program to help, something like Tuebo Tax.

How is this related to immigration? Why does it matter the way you do your taxes? All the embassy needs is a copy of your tax return right?

Well the instructions page stated I needed a copy of Tax Return (1040) ...I didn't know whether it mattered which form to file so that I send them the right one, but it turns out each tax form you file depends on what you make. 1040 would not apply to me since I do not make over $100,000. I will continue to file for the 1040A i have always done since its applicable to my income.

is this really an issue?

I didnt know whether it would be.....(this is clearly in regards to affidavit of support).....just being extra cautious.
