We white people love being called cracker in this board. Some have said it is a term of "endearment" ,,,But I see from many You Tube postings that prior to knocking out an 80 year old woman and stomping her face into the ground ... Cracker is often used before the attack. to describe her.

Cracker is only offensive or meaningful to white Americans. As a European, it has no meaning for me, it does not resonate as an offensive word. In fact, it has an entirely different colloquial (that means informal) meaning in the UK, for example.

'N!gger' on the other hand is universally offensive, I don't think there is a single English speaking country where that is not the case. What does that tell you?

That people here try and relativise the two terms as being somehow equivalent is a failure of perspective.

I agree the two are not on par in any sense but you are wrong about the term "N_gger" being so offensive universally.

The term is not universally offensive, What is offensive is if White people use the term, Blacks (broadly speaking) feel completely at ease using the term, either in a light hearted way or during expressions of anger, that is just a fact.

So the word is not universally offensive, unless a non-black speaks it..... THEN it is offensive .

Really, so you're saying that every single black person feels at ease saying that word? Can you speak for all black people?

The black people I know in the UK do not use that word, and as I understand it it's highly controversial among blacks in the US. Of course this depends on who you listen to, and if your only experience of black people is of poorly educated, inner city kids you probably aren't going to to come away with a very good opinion. Or a very representative one.

I think I have asked you before to submit your proof that you have spoken with every black person in the U.S. and every black person uses this word freely.

Please SUBMIT YOUR PROOF!

In regards to the original article the point of the complaint is that officers were only using race as a way to describe perps. Which leads to racial profiling and causes concerns on campus.

I think most reasonable people have no problem saying a black male suspect between the ages of 20-30 wearing jeans and a red top was scene leaving blah blah.... But apparently all the race baiters on this forum totally misread the allegations that only a racial description was given and yes I have a problem with that. Being racial profiled by cops is no fun. Imagine if the only description of race was given and if you happen to be in the area, how would you feel being stopped and thrown to the ground.

They can't see it because it's not the soup they swim in. The folks that complain about this are the ones who are the least affected about it.

No need to submit proof of something I never claimed.

I said it is not "universally" offensive, not that it is universally used.

DO you deny that many blacks feel completely comfy hearing the word.... provided the right person is using it?

Papa claimed the term is "universally offensive", I think it is him who should furnish proof for such a claim.

Words have meaning MArvin.

" Blacks (broadly speaking) feel completely at ease using the term,"

Broadly speaking implies regularly or commonly.

DO you deny that most Blacks have used the term or that many blacks are accustomed to hearing it at least from time to time from other Blacks?

(Slam dunk)

Yes, I DENY that many blacks feel comfortable using this word. Because I do not know ANY blacks that I associate with who do. Sorry kiddo!

Lets face it, you don't know jack about Black people except what you see on the screen, you are therefore qualified to lecture like any DWL (Disingenuous white liberal)

Have you yet answered my question- Should men also take offense when a male is identified as robbing a bank or whatever?

Actually I said "hearing" the word but I'm sure your answer is the same.

(Though I doubt many are buying it)

You can buy that bridge to NOWHERE, while you are at it.

Again, I have told you what kind of person I am like. And although I grew up poor, my now stepdad and my mom make over $100,000 a year. We don't run in ghetto circles.

I know, this is really hard for you to understand because EVERY BLACK PERSON IN THE U.S. is ghetto, loud, rude, have 20 baby dads and 20 baby moms, on welfare, racist and uneducated.

I know, these 3 little educated black people on VJ are just killing you.

Sorry, I hope you get it slowly. :)
