Here's the issue from what I've seen:

I truly believe that Gary thinks this because of where he lives. In Chicago, and places like that, it's so much crime, as it is random killings. This is why CC won't help, if you look at the list of victims, most of them are children under the age of 18, and half of them were shot without warning. Those examples I gave? Copy and paste them in Google, those are real cases of people being killed in Chicago.

CC deters crime when the criminals give some advance warning. But drive bys? Stray bullets? Those dudes hardened by living in the hood? You're not going to get a chance to pull out your piece and shoot back. If you living there and you have a gut feeling about something, that means you've been shot...

In Chicago, I fail to see how CC would make a significant dent in any crime statistics. As Marvin pointed out, it's a different kind of crime there.

The guns are already in the areas that are the worst off. Average Joe from a better neighborhood having a CC permit isn't going to stop anything.

See Jinx what you are doing with this subject is what you do with any concerning race slavery, discrimination etc.

You look at things in a Box and that box is called America.

What you never do is consider America in any comparative way to other places.

For instance when America indulged in Slavery..... what were Africans doing at the same time (in regards to human rights)?

When America abolished Slavery,............ for how many more decades did most of the (Non white) world still "enjoy" the fruits of it?

When Blacks were made to drink in separate fountains, how were Black treated in the rest of the world?

When Whites lynched aprox 3000 Blacks over 100 years... how many Blacks in Africa met the same fate at the hands of other Blacks.... for the same reasons?

And

When you complain that Blacks were given the N-word as a name to be known as, the least you could do is tell us the word Africans used to call whites by.

When you get out of the box and look at these issues in a more comparative light, that chip might fall right off your shoulder.

The majority of victims are gun related. And most of them were unavoidable. Meaning they were shot without waring. It's so bad that the amount of children killed there is a greater amount of soldiers over in Afghanistan. Fix that first, then implement CC.

Yup I'm very well versed in that argument and those claims. What people who make that argument fail to understand is that no where in recorded history has the practice of racial based slavery been implemented until the US did it. The Romans, Greeks, Egyptians, etc . all practiced slavery and most people in world history has been enslaved at one point. People who have studied the institution of the American slave trade know this. He is very insulting with his word choice of things like America dabbling in it etc. Moderators may let him slide with his bs but I won't.
