Original vs. Copy for Documents

I have noticed that original documents are required for the Consulates. However, if original documents were sent with I-129, how are we expected to have original documents? Don't the Consulates receive the original file?

Or am I completely misunderstanding, and don't need those originals? Of course, we haven't even received Packet 3 yet, I'm just trying to get a jump on things. Impatient, impatient!! :o)

You shouldn't be sending originals....you send photocopies.

To the interview you take originals....plus photocopies. They look at the original and keep the photocopy.

married Dec '03 in US

Feb 04...... I 130 filed......................approved August 04

March 04... I 129F filed....................approved October 04

August 04...I 130 for children filed....approved September 04

Interview: Jan 19 2005 in Sydney

Leave for New Hampshire 27 January 05

We are Home!!!!! :o)

AOS timeline....round 1

2/16/05 I-765 mailed to Chicago

5/24/05 EAD approved

7/11/05 Started work!!

AOS....round 2 (to finally finish things off)

10/25/06 NOA1 for AOS/EAD

11/16/06 Transferred to CSC

11/17/06 Biometrics appt

11/27/06 Touched "Case now pending at CSC"

1/12/07 EAD "touched"

1/16/07 EAD "touched"

1/17/07 EAD approved "Card production Ordered"

1/20/07 I 485 "touched"

1/22/07 EAD card received

6/13/07 Transferred back to Missouri....grrrrrrr

7/23/07 Interview date! FINALLY!

7/23/07 AOS APPROVED!!! :o) 10 yr Greencard I 551 stamp in passport.

7/28/07 Welcome letter received

7/28/07 Card production ordered.

8/1/07 Approval notice senT

8/3/07 Greencards received in mail!

But yeah, iam wondering the same thing, at the interview at the consulate do they require an original proof of the US citizens citezenship? Do you have to send the original birth certificate?

March 2006--Met while studying together in Bremen, Germany(what an unbelievable blessing)

May 2006----I flew from Frankfurt to Minsk, Belarus to be with her and her family(best time of my life)

July 2006----Presented her with a ring in Warsaw...the most wonderful, but fastest days of my life

July 2006----Back in Kansas, feeling half the man iam without her

September 2006--File for the I-129F at the NSC, then diverted to the CSC

September 2006--NOA1, CSC, September 18

October 2006-----Touched, only to correct a minor error in the spelling of my adress(better safe then sorry)

January 19th 2007---I just can't belive this, the day has come! Ketino and I are approved!!What a wonderful fealing it is!!

January 31st---NVC mailes packet to U.S embassy in Warsaw, Poland.

February 13th-- Ketino recieves packet 3 from the embassy

February 14th-- Ketino sends the packet back to the emabssy

Thanks. When I sent documents for my RFE, they wanted certified original documents of my divorce decrees, so I had to send originals, NOT copies. Will a copy of that suffice for the Consulate? I could even get it notarized...
