Just submitted mine today. My window was October 31, 2013, but I was busy doing other things and couldn't get the chance to mail anything out until today.

benanddawn our window was oct 7 2013 but we also had a lot of things going on and thought it was an EXPENSIVE, hard process but we looked into it last month and here we are we have mailed out the application.

Hi! Finally mailed in my N-400 tonight, after being eligible since 12/1/2010 based on 5 years as a Permanent Resident. It took a while, but I finally sent it in. My receipt from USPS (Priority Mail) says it should get to Dallas on Monday. Here we go... good luck, everyone!

Forgot to mention: I had everything ready to mail on Tuesday, but noticed when double-checking the lockbox mailing address that USCIS posted a new version of Form N-400 literally that same day, on Tuesday 2/4. You can read more about that here: http://www.uscis.gov/news/alerts/uscis-revises-form-n-400-application-naturalization

Anyway, I filled out the new version because I'm hoping the new barcodes at the bottom for "efficiency in processing" mean they'll get processed faster!

Youngwanderer yes...however, the old version is still good until 90 days after the new one was posted...From May 2014, the old one will not be accepted anymore. Both the old and new are good until May 2014.

I wonder if youngwanderer's application does go faster caz of the barcodes? I know you can still use what we have sent since they are good until May but I wonder if using the new one will speed up the process... hmmm! We shall see whether those barcodes help my application go through the system... that's what I'm hoping for! I waited such a long time to apply though, so waiting a few more months isn't going to kill me.

I haven't started studying yet, I plan to begin after receiving the official booklet of questions - I think those are given out at the biometrics appointments?

According to USCIS Early Filing Calculator, my wife can submit the N-400 package on 25 Feb, but I think we will wait until the week of 3-7 March. Good luck to all of us. Think we can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Hope it's not a train headed our way! Are there any of you in the New Orleans Service Area?

We have everything ready to send in but I'm not sure about the check/money order....is the total $675.00? Separate check/money order for filing fee and biometrics or can it be one for the total?

Hi Honey n Walid - The total is actually $680 ($595 N-400 filing fee + $85 biometrics fee). The directions on the USCIS website say to send one check payable to "U.S. Department of Homeland Security", and to write your A-number on the back. I've never written anything on the back of a check before, so I wrote my A-number on the memo line on the front of the check along with "N-400 application fee".
