I did not have to send a check in since I am former military. So I can not tell you anything about that :( sorry

But I am sure they will cash it in soon. That is usually the first thing they do - get their money ;)


Maybe you could add to the timeline that my Field Office is Saint Paul, MN and that my fee was waived (due to being former military). Not sure how to do it myself lol

This question may sound really dumb, but is my A number my social security number?

No, your A number is the number on your green-card. Possibly it would next to the line marked USCIS #: xxx-xxx-xxx. Here is an example from google: Google Image.

Hope this helps, but your Social Security is NOT your A number.

Your A-number is your USCIS # written on the front of your green card. You can also see the number on the back of your green card if you hold it up starting "A# followed by 9 digits...

In went for a "walk-in" biometric...the personnel was willing to do it for me but he made me aware that since the actual appointment date is about two weeks away, the information may disappear from the system or something may go wrong with the system and USCIS may not see that I got it done, which may delay the process. He suggested I wait until the actual appointment date or a day or two from the actual appointment date. He gave me the option to make my own decision as he was only being informative as possible. Well, I decided to wait considering what he had to say about it and some previous experiences of applicants who had it done two weeks prior to the actual appointment date.

The place was empty when I arrived. I was the only applicant in there at the time. I met a security guard at the entrance and I asked him if it was ok to do my fingerprints while I was in the area. I told him that I had an appointment scheduled for next month. He told me to wait, left his station and went to his supervisor, he returned back to me with a positive answer.

I handed him my appointment notice and my Alien Card. I filled out a Biography Worksheet, sat for 2 minutes. One of the tech called me, had my fingerprints, picture taken and my signature. I was out of there.

I wonder if my application coming the day after a federal holiday will make it take longer - doh. Still no cashed check today. I hope we don't get the package back. I remember on DH's AOS, that I put the wrong birthday (he wasn't even more according to the birthday I had entered, and they sent the package back saying I had paid the wrong fee). I finally figured out it was because they thought he was a minor from the birthdate - which was still 4 months away -. Yeah I married a pre-born man, smh. I had made sure the birthday was right on this package.

How quickly after the online status update (fingerprints letter sent) did you receive your appointment letter?

Mine changed on Monday, I am wondering when I should expect the letter in the mail...

USCIS in Phoenix, AZ received my N-400 packet yesterday. Haven't got any text or e-mail yet. Seem like it usually takes a week ... I guess time be patient.
