Hi,

I’m US Army Active Duty. I got military orders to arrive in South Korea on Apr 2014 with my Wife and Son.

My questions are:

My wife is a Non-US Citizen using a Green Card holder and has a Vietnamese Passport; does she need a visa before in order to enter Korea?

is She need to go to the nearest South Korea Consulate to get a A-3 Visa before she can enter South Korea. How can she apply for a A-3 Visa; and what documents does she need?

Thank you for your assistance.

Questions you should be asking your family center and work sponsor in Korea.

If wife is on the orders, can't you get her expedited citizenship before you leave for Korea? 319(b)

you can get your answers by looking up in "passport matters"

You should have enough time to do the expedited naturalization though as long as you have hardcopy orders. I would get with your personnel office and they should be able to help you out with the visa if you cannot do the naturalization. The personnel office will have to help as long as you have an accompanied tour to korea. If you are just bringing your wife with you out of your own pocket, be advised that your wife could lose permanent resident status if she is not on your orders as accompanying you or you don't file for advanced parole.

If you're coming here (to Korea) command sponsored with family, then they should be able to help you. I'd say talk to them, but get ready to send an N-400 immediately to the Lincoln Lockbox and get her naturalized before you go.

The other option is to talk with your sponsor at your gaining unit to see about your wife's visa requirements. If she's been a green card holder for over three years based on marriage with you, she can go to Korea and become a US citizen in Seoul at the US embassy.

Talk to your sponsor and your local Client Legal Services office. PM me if you need more guidance.
