AOS & EAD = 29/11/06

NOA 1'S = 6/12/06

RFE = 15/12/06

RFE SENT = 02/01/07

BIOMETRICS = 08/01/07

Tranfered to CSC =17/01/07

Received at csc = 22/01/07

APPROVED = 29/01/07

Approval notice sent =01/02/07

GREEN CARD RECEIVED=03/02/07

Yes, however you wont be able to work unless you have you I-94 stamped with a 90 EAD. The SS Card will have 'Valid For Work only with DHS Authorization' printed on it. Once you get your greencard you can apply to have the print removed.

In California they wont issue a plastic ID card only a paper license valid to the end of your I-94. Once your I-94 and driver license expire you can renew your paper license until you get either your EAD or Green Card, then they will give you the Plastic ID card.

Yes, for the SSN, but you must do so within 76 days of your entry to the USA. And you're running out of time.

For the drivers license, consult the motor vehicle laws of your state of residence.

Yes. The SSA will only issue the card to an alien who has employment authorization. A K1 has employment authorization for 90 days. The SSA allows themselves 2 weeks to process the application and issue the card.....

I was wondering about the ssn thing too so this post helped me. Is there a reason for 76 days though?

Yep, same things goes for the state of Missouri. Poor hubby isn't going to be driving for a long while :(

We applied for my husband's (then fiance's) SSN 3 days after his arrival and it took less than 3 weeks to receive. He was able to apply for his driver's license here in Ohio and at that time, we showed our AOS paperwork for the ID and such. I'm sure you can call BMV or look them up online for the requirements. Good Luck.

one week after i landed here, i got married and went for the ssn. the lady i met there said my status is still fiancee but i filled the form stating i am married, she suggested i apply for my aos then come back. i am thinking i should have stuck to my maiden name on paper until i get my aos. but i will try again.

There is nowhere on the application form to indicate marital status. So yes, apply again trying your maiden name this time.

Not entirely true. I got a plastic driver's license in California after my I-94 was expired. All I needed was SSN and Canadian Passport to do this.

Well according to the California DMV Legal Presents section, the only way to get the plastic ID is to provide a document from USCIS that shows that you have permenant legal presents to either live or work in the states.

Without an EAD or Green Card I could show a NOA approval letter.

What was your status when you got the plastic ID card?

yes u can! well, based on my experience i got my ssn and my drivers permit in just 1 1/2 months but be sure to get ur ssn first b4 u apply for drivers permit or license.

I did have my SS number before I got my license. They said that they only issue paper licenses until they recive either an EAD or Green Card.

They are a bunch of ***********
