Saddam May Face Execution Within Hours

The physical hand-over of Saddam to Iraqi authorities was believed to be one of the last steps before he was to be hanged, although the lawyers' statement did not specifically say Saddam was in Iraqi hands.

"A few minutes ago we received correspondence from the Americans saying that President Saddam Hussein is no longer under the control of U.S. forces," according to the statement faxed to The Associated Press.

"Saddam will be executed today or tomorrow," said Munir Haddad, a judge on the appeals court that upheld Saddam's death sentence. "All the measures have been done."

Haddad is authorized to attend the execution on behalf of the judiciary.

"I am ready to attend and there is no reason for delays," Haddad said.

How many people believe in the death penalty? I dont know if I do or not. What I do know is I would hate for it to be me. I can not imagine what people go thru menatally when they know they are about to die. Well, yes I can Imagine it, but I am sure it its nothing compared to what they think in the final hours.

Do they wish they could take it all back? Or are they like So Damm... who said he wants to be a martyr......... :blink:

I wouldn't waste any time sympathizing with Saddam. His chickens finally came to roost. Look at his murderous life and the punishment fits the crime(s).

Not even DNA forensics can turn this one around.

I heard Saddam asked for a large Pepperoni Pizza, a six-pack of beer and a box of nudie mags for his last wish. He also requested his death to be by the same chemical agent as he used against the Kurds.
