So looking over my letter. This is what Im thinking I need my husband to bring to his interview.

Document Name Document Status

CORRESPONDENCE INSTRUCTIONS C- Needs to bring

1 - IMMIGRANT VISA APPLICATION PART 1 R - (Submitted it online so dont need to bring?)

1 - IMMIGRANT VISA APPLICATION PART 2 R - (Submitted it online so dont need to bring?)

2 - PASSPORT Y - (I know it says NVC sent this but Im pretty sure it was just a copy of his bio page. So have him bring his passport?)

3 - BIRTH CERTIFICATE O- (Does he need to bring his original?)

4 - ADOPTION F- (Doesnt apply to us)

5 - MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE O- (The NVC has the original and certified copies should I make him bring another certified copy?)

6 - MARRIAGE TERMINATION F- (Doesnt apply to us)

7 - COURT RECORDS F- (Doesnt apply to us)

F - FINANCIAL EVIDENCE Y- (Submitted everything to NVC. Should he bring copies of the I-864?)

9 - MILITARY RECORDS F- (Doesnt apply to us)

10 - CANADA POLICE CERTIFICATE Y- (Submitted original so I dont think he needs to bring this?)

FEE PAYMENT $- (Paid our fees already)

PHOTOGRAPH Y- (Submitted photos already but maybe should have him bring two more?)

F - PETITIONER MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE F- (Doesnt apply to us)

F - PETITIONER BIRTH CERTIFICATE F- (Doesnt apply to us)

ELIGIBILITY DOCUMENT F- (Doesnt apply to us)

So from all that Im gathering he needs to bring the following:

His medical

His passport

His birth certificate

His interview letter

Two passport type photos

A certified copy of our marriage certificate

Would this cover all our bases? I feel like building him up a whole new packet just in case. Stress lol.

Now the actual embassy website lists the following:

  • Valid Passport and photocopy of the biographic page. (I figure he should bring his passport. NVC has a copy of his biographical page)
  • Ticket with your number (will be given at the Consulate). (Done there so not worried about this)
  • Medical Examination in a sealed envelope (X-ray is not required, unless there is TB). (Working on getting this done this month)
  • 2 color passport-size pictures (5 cm X 5 cm or 2 inch X 2 inch). (This definitely answered some questions above I think)
  • Form DS-230 (175KB PDF), parts I and II, or Confirmation Page of the electronic form DS-260. (Wouldnt this be in the packet NVC sent them?)
  • Birth Certificate, English translation and a photocopy. (?)
  • Marriage Certificate, English translation and a photocopy. (They have my original and certified copies should I have him bring another?)
  • Divorce Certificate, English translation and a photocopy. (Doesnt apply to us)
  • Custody documents, English translation and photocopy. (Doesnt apply to us)
  • Police Certificates from Canada and other countries of previous residence. (Doesnt the one in the NVC packet count?)
  • Court / Criminal records and photocopy.(Doesnt apply to us)
  • Military records and photocopy.(Doesnt apply to us)
  • Evidence of Support (I-864, I-864A, I-864EZ, I-864W) and photocopy of IRS transcript or photocopy of the most recent Federal income tax return. (Would the ones NVC sent them count?)
  • Recent Letter from the U.S. employer (for employment cases).(Doesnt apply to us)
  • Copy of the U.S. petitioner status in the USA.( What is this?)
  • Copies of documents proving petitioner's U.S. domicile. (What is this?)

Sorry for the barrage post. I just figure we all have to go through it so I might as well put it out there. The letters are confusing I'll give them that haha! I know we all want to be super ready. Just trying to get a jumpstart on it. Maybe my confusion will fill in some blanks for someone else xD

Thank you so much for the info smile.png

And I guess we have to submit pcc at the nvc stage right? Or bring it fr the interview??

You need to send the original PCC to NVC with IV packet. Along with beneficiary's original Birth cert, Marriage cert and 2 photographs.

When and where do we submit the Police Clearance Certificate? Do we need to have request letter from NVC to get PCC? I was told we should, they will not do it w/o it. I live in Bangkok Thailand. Thanks.

If you are not SL citizen then I'm not sure about the process. I'm SL citizen and walked in to the head office. I think you may need to go through the SL embassy in Thailand (if there is a one) and request the PCC.

You can see get info from below website. Contact the SL embassy, I think they will guide you.

So when you pan to have medical? Do you mean 2013 taxes? May oe may not be asked for at interview. I would for sure have W2 in hand at interview just in case. I even been telling folks since you are so close just go to Turbo tax and click extension. it taxes like 5 minutes. Thats what i would do have extension and W2 just in case in hand.

I already went to have medical but they cannot make the document until finding out I'm pregnant or not...

(I don't think I am, but understand what they have to do to make my document)

Accountant is preparing 2013 tax return which should be ready soon.

Since we are both living and working outside the US, there is no W2 to bring.

It should be fine, right?

I think all will be ready quite soon.

Thanks for your advice :)

My wife went for her interview today. I waited outside the embassy building. Overall, her interview went well.

Questions:

What are your parents names?

Where does your husband live? Do you know his full address?

What does your husband do?

Where did you study and what?

Have you ever lived outside Nepal for a long duration?

Do you have any pictures with your husband?

Do you have any family pictures?

She answered them all correctly. Most other conversation was just chit-chat. Consular told her she was good to go and that her documents were flawless. They returned her all original papers I had filed and kept her passport.

Then they realized they didn't have her medicals on file. In Nepal, medicals are sent directly from IOM (medical center) to the Embassy. Since her case was expedited, they hadn't had enough time to send her medicals to the Embassy. Consular told her that it should arrive in less than two weeks and that they would call her once it arrives to pick up her passport. We came home and checked status online and it says "Administrative Processing" so I am not sure if I should be concerned or not. We shall see...
