NVC Filers - February 2014

Sorry Saylin, I have one last question regarding my medical/ds260 dilemma lol.

I have now cancelled my appointment under the instruction of the doctor’s surgery that carry out the medical as they have been asked by the Embassy not to book anyone in unless their papers have arrived at the Embassy. I was sent a cancellation confirmation email stating this.

I'm sure you remember, but I'll explain again just in case, I put "no" to the vaccination question on the DS260 and wrote in the explanation box that I will be having the vaccinations at my medical on the 20th Feb and will have proof at interview.

Now, I know you said it does not matter in the slightest that I am rescheduling as this happens all the time and that NVC will not even bother calling the medical place to check, but does this also apply if I currently have no booking at the medical place at all? I cannot reschedule at this point as I have no idea when my papers will be received at the Embassy.

So basically, I told NVC on the DS260 that I will be having my vaccinations on 20th Feb, but I have now cancelled this appointment under their instruction to wait, and currently am not booked in for an appointment at all. Please also note that Knightsbridge Doctors in London do not keep records of applicants that have cancelled. I know this because the woman I spoke to said I would have to have my case number to hand again when I call to rebook as my details have been deleted. In a nut shell I'm worried NVC will call Knightsbridge in London and ask "is he booked in for the 20th" and they will be like "we've not got him booked in at all".

I know I'm worrying over nothing and NVC don’t have anything to do with the medical process but I'm just being extra careful!

Thanks, and I promise this will be the last you hear of it!

Still doesn't matter no0pb.gif You're way over-thinking this :P

Soooo upset! Just called the NVC and I STILL don't have a case number! Its been over the "10-20" business days! The lady was super rude (surprise, right?) after 30 minutes waiting I asked to talk to a supervisor, she put me on hold for 2 secs then told me there were no supervisors available! Such idiots! Any suggestions on what I should do?

When did NVC receive your case?

Keep in mind, NVC has been closed quite a few times this year due to the weather, not to mention for holidays. They're obviously experiencing a backlog because of this, so time frames are going to be off. There's nothing you can do except to be patient and keep calling once a day.

I might need to be more assertive...

I called USCIS this morning to ascertain when (and if!) my case left TSC for NVC. The person on the phone was nice as pie, but she said they wouldn't be able to tell me when or if it was shipped to NVC. She could tell me I was approved (which, of course, I already knew), but as far as shipping out, there was no info.

Is this a case where I should have asked to speak to a Tier 2? My case status has not changed since 1/31, when my petition was approved.

Thanks.

Sukie

Now...do you think my phone call to USCIS did something? I JUST received an email that my case is being shipped to NVC TODAY!

Time to update my signature!

Hello Saylin,

Thanks so much for this. Big help. Just a few questions:

1. You said, if we use 2013 as the latest year for tax then we need to bring 2013 tax information to INTERVIEW. What interview is this? The beneficiary's interview with the embassy?

2. Is it possible for the IV Fee bill to become available for payment at the ceac website before AOS is submitted by the petitioner?

Thanks!

If I don't get transfer update to NVC on USCIS website does it mean my file is still with USCIS?

Not necessarily. Remember, the online system isn't a 100% guarantee. I never got a notice about my case shipping to NVC, but obviously, it did.

Hello Saylin,

2. Is it possible for the IV Fee bill to become available for payment at the ceac website before AOS is submitted by the petitioner?

1. I never said that. I said that if you do NOT use 2013 tax information at NVC, then the interview will likely be after the April 14 tax deadline, in which 2013 tax information will then be needed at the interview. And yes, the interview by the consulate/embassy in which the beneficiary must attend.

2. Yes. The IV bill is part of the IV track. The AOS package is part of the AOS track. Both tracks run independent of one another and have absolutely nothing to do with one another.

Please read posts 1 and 2. You're missing valuable information.

I haven't replied to anyone about this as NLR said it perfectly. It's not required, no. If it was, as you said, it'd be posted on NVC's website. But, in most, if not all, cases, the CO has already made a decision on your case BEFORE you get to the interview. So, the thinking is, the more evidence they have beforehand (through the original I-130 submission as well as anything added afterwards, typically in the IV package), the higher the chances they'll approve it. But this is more important in high fraud countries. For places such as Canada and the UK, this isn't really needed as pretty much everyone gets approved, as long as everything is in order. But for MENA countries, it's best to send more evidence in the IV package as that's where the most denials come from. So, if you (the general you, not you specifically) want to submit more evidence, no matter what country, then go ahead. I can't see how it would hurt. And if you don't want to, then don't. Obviously, if you don't end up submitting anything more in the IV package, bring it with you to the interview, in case they do ask to see more evidence.

What could be come good examples.

Please go look at the bottom of post 1. I included a link to a thread with a plethora of evidence ideas. Read the entire thing, not just the first post.

And no idea. I no longer call up NVC :P

Hi Saylin,

At this point it looks like our interview will be after April 15th, I am a US Citizen living in Canada with my husband (he is Canadian). Normally I do not file my US taxes until sometime before June 15 (since I am afforded an extension) and the CA filing date is April 30th. So will I have to file earlier this year? Or is it okay that I not bring 2013 taxes to the interview.

Bring the extension letter and I believe you should be fine.
