NVC received on Feb 3, 2014. Called them yesterday and was told it is still not in their system yet. I called about 7 in the evening West Coast time. The wait time was about 20 min. She said, it would take about 20 working days from the NVC received date to issue a number.

Meanwhile, received an email response today from NVC (my enquiry was sent to NVC on January 29, 2014).

Dear Sir/Madam:

The National Visa Center (NVC) received your inquiry .

We recently received your visa petition. We will send NVC processing instructions within 30 days.

The worst thing has happened...

i have submitted my AOS and IV documents to NVC which was delivered on Jan 27th and Feb 3rd respectively...

According to NVC they have only received one package which they entered into their system on Feb 4th..

i asked them which package have you received and they mentioned that they can't tell until its reviewed (which usually takes 20 days according to previous VJers..)

I have already emailed them my tracking labels on Monday (02/09/2014).. but haven't received any reply yet...

so any suggestion guys.. what should I do.. or just wait n watch this dumb system...

I hope atleast my IV documents have reached safely, as it had all the originals... I was thinking about sending over the whole AOS package again, but thought will get some opinions from u guys.... It's such a terrible moment... can't explain... never felt this helpless since I moved to US...

They might just not be in the system yet, they've been delayed with all the weather issues over there.

I sent my documents via email (per timeline details below) and they can only see one in the system. I'm assuming its the AOS package since I sent that first. It took 7 days to get the email confirmation that they received that. When I call about the IV package they say they only show one is received. I personally am just calling for updates each day - I haven't called today, and will probably just wait until Tuesday since they're probably short staffed due to weather and then Monday is a holiday. I asked pretty much the same question and Saylin said that they're probably just backed up, which makes sense. Lots of snow and closures. Good luck!

I was planning to send copies of all the required documents and not the Originals with the AOS and IV package to NVC. Planning to carry the originals to the consulate interview. My fear is I do not want the originals to be lost at NVC or en route to NVC.

Do you think it is OK to send copies of documents and not originals (like Birth Certificate, Police Certificate, etc.)?

thanks ... there.....

but your's is e-filing, so m not sure how long it usually takes... but as per earlier messages, for non e-filing cases, the documents are scanned the very next day...

to give benefit of doubt due to weather, I can understand 2 - 3 days, but it's almost 2 weeks for me...

No, that's not okay. NVC requires the originals/certified copies. If you just submit photocopies, you'll get a checklist.

Did this pop up when filling in the DS-260 (near the very end)?

Either way, it wouldn't hurt to print, sign, and date it. Then bring it to the interview. Although, I'm not a male :P, so it wasn't required for me, so I don't really know too much about it. But like I said, it won't hurt bringing one more piece of paper. Only hand it over if requested.
