I was only on hold for 7 minutes before someone picked up, I think that's a record!

No case number yet, but I wasn't expecting one. They received our case on Jan 21. The woman I spoke to was very nice and mentioned they'd had a couple of days the office was closed for inclement weather, so she said if I called back later they might have an update. Based on the updates I've seen from other members here, I'm thinking next Friday might be an optimistic guess for getting our number.

I will try my luck in the evening. May be something to cheer for the weekend...

Also, can anything other than an appraisal be used for ownership of a house? I have the deed but on the deed the value of the property is not listed? Please if anyone knows.. Thanks!

I've never had anyone be anything but nice to me at NVC. They've been courteous, answered my questions...they were nice people. One guy helped me with a question about my I-864 that even my accountant got wrong (resulting in a checklist). I truly think they want to get your paper processed and you out of there as quick as they can, and they do have a lot of people to process. So try your best to be patient. We'll get through this, eventually, surely. We're all anxious and we all want it yesterday and it just doesn't work that way, unfortunately.

did you find out if your IV package got reviewed by the NVC or not yet?

Ah yes, another holiday. It's demoralizing to call day in, day out and have nothing happening. We've been ready with documentation for months. People say this stage is easier because it's "more active"... feels like a lot of false starts to me. The stop and go is maddening! Still, brave faces, right? At least there are rough timelines we can count on at this point. That's a lot more than we could say for USCIS.

ROC Timeline

04/06/2016 - Mailed I-751

04/07/2016 - NOA1

04/13/2016 - Check cashed

04/14/2016 - NOA1 hardcopy

05/16/2016 - Biometrics appointment

05/17/2017 - Approved

had a quick but odd question: with the passport pics, is it 100% required to have a 2x2 or can we send in a different size - my husband is from the UK and he sent me the standard UK passport size pics which are a bit smaller... I used a UK size for the USCIS and that didn't seem to matter, but since this is the NVC will it make a difference so that I'll get a checklist over picture size? Any input? Thanks and happy Friday!

I haven't seen anyone post a checklist for that BUT if I were you, I would play it on the safe side. My wife sent me passport photos from Peru that were a different size as well (for the USCIS stage), and I got on to a passport creator website, adjusted the size, then printed it at a Walmart. What size are the pictures he sent you? If for any reason a passport creator doesn't work for you online, you can have him retake the photo and print it in the correct size and have him email you a scanned copy, and you can print it here.. saves a lot of time :)

For the NVC stage I made sure my wife got the right size just in case!

I got married in Nov 2012, but filed my 2012 tax (2013) as single. Also my W 2 for last year shows "single".

Now that I just paid my AOS bill, I do not wish to go about changing all that. Has anyone experienced issues with filing as single and getting a check from NVC?

Second question is, once the AOS shows paid. I can use the downloaded I864 ez with bar coded cover and other returns to mail to NVC? or am I waiting for I 864 EZ form from NVC?

NVC probably won't care (or even notice) your filing status. But the status you chose is wrong. It should have either been MFS or MFJ (or even HOH if you qualified). I would suggest amending them ASAP. If the CO at the embassy/consulate sees it, then can take that as a red flag ("why are they applying for a SPOUSAL visa when the petitioner is filing as SINGLE?"). And being a citizen or not doesn't mean anything. Please read the bottom of post 2.

NVC doesn't send the forms to you. They'll merely direct you to their website with links. So, yes, once the AOS shows as PAID on the payment portal, you can send the AOS package. No need to wait on them for stuff you can do now.

This is outrageous. I've sent several emails and just sent another one today to NVCinquiry regarding my application. We are out of the processing times. They don't respond to emails in a timely manner either. I sent an email to NVC expedite abd still haven't received a response. This is completely and utterly outrageous !!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's faster if you just call. Depending on what time you call, you can get through within just a few minutes. It usually takes around a week or two to receive a reply by email.

Keep in mind, NVC receives, I'm sure, thousands and thousands of emails per day. And they don't have thousands and thousands of workers to reply to emails. You need to learn to put things in perspective and realize that NVC is working as best as they can. Your petition isn't the only one at NVC. THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF CASES.

What priority date is the NVC workin on? Based on NOA1 my priority date is Match 25. Is the NVC working on dates around mine? I don't understand the visa bulletin or how to read it. It has no information on CR1 applications.. Does anyone know. We are desparate, I am thinking of changin my address to my husbands London address maybe then things will go faster. this is getting to be utterly outrageous and infuriating. I don't know how much longer I can take

Priority dates don't matter for IR-1/CR-1 cases. There are an unlimited number of visas per year. Priority dates only matter for visas in which there's a limited number per year. In those types, there's a visa bulletin. For IR-1/CR-1 cases, there isn't.

And NOA1 dates don't matter either as USCIS doesn't process petitions in order of NOA1s. If anything, you should focus more on NOA2 dates. But keep in mind, some service centers send out petitions faster than others.

And changing your address to a foreign one now won't do anything.

Calling NVC as we speak and it's either ringing without anyone picking up... Or a busy signal. (Update: The main message says "Assistance regarding an immigrant visa is not available at this time.") Someone buy those people a decent computer system, please. (Are they running Win98?!?)

Nope! Only the beneficiary has to. Please see: http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents/submit/documents-to-submit-to-nvc.html
