Do you have a cell phone with data? There is an app called "Magic Jack" that you can download, and it let's you make free calls to US numbers. You should try that and call the NVC

For some reason even with 3g connection,the magic jack line wasnt that good for me. Eventually I called them from my mobile.

If you are going to call them from your mobile then try calling them around 7am (EST) or just before their closing time 12 am (EST) which is what i did, the hold time would be less for sure.

Ouch, any internet cafe nearby, within 10 miles?

You might want to set up a SKYPE 'pay money' account - the last time I looked it was about 15 bucks for 3 months of unlimited calling into the USA, but ain't useful unless you have a connection to the internet (like the one found in a better internet cafe)

Then plan yer trips into the internet cafe, trying to get NVC on the phone when you can, as you can. If you are certain they have yer casefile, then I say call about 20 days after that date.

Having a good internet cafe will be useful, later, as well, as you'll want to pay the fees online and mostly it's done using web browser IE 7 or better.

i am the benificery from Pakistan. I have two questions.How can i send signed or unsigned DS-261 (DS-230) form from pakistan because i have filled it online.secondly, if in IV package there has to send original/certified birth and marriage certificate of both petitioner and beneficiary so how the benificery can bring the original birth and marriage certificate in interview with him because the original one would have already been submitted in IV package.Please advice

The two online forms are "signed" online. There's no paper forms you need to send. You just complete the two forms online and hit the submit button. That's it.

And you don't need to bring the original/certified copy of the certificates to the interview as they're submitted at NVC.

Yes, put 0 for the spouse section. The spouse has already been accounted for and the instructions specifically state not to count anyone twice.

It might not make sense, but keep in mind, not everyone who uses this form is for spousal visas.

Hoping to get my case number by Friday. Recd by NVC on January 14. Will I ever get to see my wife???? I guess they figure if 2 people can make it through all of these hoops than they must really love each other and will be less prone to be a headache for the govt in the future.

Have you gotten your civil documents yet? My wife got them pretty quickly in Lima. I'm just waiting for the NVC to say GO!

Your are right. If there is one thing I'm happy about is that the Peruvian government makes it very simple to get the civil documents we need. Since I heard some of the docs have a validity of only 90 days (perhaps you can attest), we are going to wait until I confirm our file is "in the building" before we start requesting them. Wifey already has the list from DOS's website, she knows exactly where to go for each doc, and she has my DHL account info to send them asap.

i am filling out the i-864ez and was wondering about the household's size question.

should i enter zero from 16 B to E since 16A already included me and my wife,

and 16F, add together lines a,b,c,d and e and enter the number here. should i enter 2 or 02?

i know it sound silly but i have no idea how picky can NVC be when sending out those RFE

Yeah at least one of them is only valid for 90 days.. my wife went ahead and got hers this month and sent it with a friend. It's a slight gamble but I'm pretty sure they will still be valid when the NVC finally requests them. Either way, it'll only take a couple of days to get them again if need be.

Any Aussies from either NSW or QLD out there? When I go to the Police Certificate site for Queensland, it says that the police report is delivered directly to the US Consulate. Therefore, my spouse will not be able to turn it in with her IV documents. May I assume that NVC will know this, and not hold us up waiting for a police certificate that will never be sent to NVC?

The Australian Federal Police site says both NSW and QLD send directly to the US Consulate in Sydney. Guess that means we have to get our NVC number so that it can be married up at the Consulate, right?

Who has gone through this?
