I received a checklist from NVC today stating that they need Police Certificate for my wife. However, their own instruction clear states that she would be exempt because she falls under the fourth category (non-indian applying outside of India).

Any idea on how to proceed?

______10 - PASSPORT POLICE CERTIFICATE:____________________________
Indian Police Clearance Certificates should be obtained as follows:
• All Indian IV applicants aged 16 and above, residing in India, should obtain police certificates from the local Passport Office.
• Indian passport holders applying for visas outside India should obtain a statement from their local embassy or consulate confirming they have no criminal record.
• Non-Indian IV applicants residing in India should obtain police certificates from the District Police Station serving their area of residence.
• Indian police certificates are not available for foreign (non-Indian) applicants applying outside India.

01/21/14 - Mailed All Supporting Documents (AOS & IV Package)...Waiting game begins

02/05/14 - Email sent to NVC requesting expedited service.

02/07/14 - Email received from NVC - Expedited service request is under review

02/13/14 - Checklist received for Indian Police Certificate. NVC Error
02/13/14 - Case Complete

02/19/14 - Expedited service Approved

02/20/14 - NVC Status - In Transit - Package sent to US Embassy

02/23/14 - NVC Status - Ready - Package received by US Embassy

02/23/14 - Called US Embassy to request an interview date

03/04/14 - Interview Date - Went well. Kept her passport. Put her on "Administrative Processing" because the Embassy was waiting to receive her medicals

03/11/14 - Medicals Received by the Embassy

03/13/14 - VISA ISSUED

03/22/14 - POE - Atlanta

Done, finished, complete....It's all over

I've never had anyone be anything but nice to me at NVC. They've been courteous, answered my questions...they were nice people. One guy helped me with a question about my I-864 that even my accountant

when did your AOS and the IV packages scanned into the system at the NVC ?

AOS was on December 24th and I got a checklist on it. Second time it got scanned on Jan 27th. IV was scanned on December 31st.

Hello Saylin or anyone. I got the checklist below, but it is not asking anything specific.
Looks like a false one to me..
What do you all think?

When responding to the National Visa Center, please include the bar code sheet that came with this
letter. Failure to include the bar code sheet may cause a delay in the processing of your case. The bar
code sheet should be placed on top of all documents being submitted for this case and mailed to the
address provided.
______1 - IMMIGRANT VISA APPLICATION PART 1:_______________________
The National Visa Center received your DS-260 form. We are waiting for the traveling applicant’s
supporting civil documents to be submitted to the NVC. Your online Immigrant Visa Application will be
reviewed upon receipt of your supporting documentation.

False checklist. Call up NVC to confirm once they're open again.

Call up NVC (once they're open) and request a supervisor. Explain the situation and ask them for the IV package to be accepted.

The checklist is in relation to them reviewing (and likely accepting) the DS-260. Read your checklist again it states right there what they reviewed.

The checklist is in relation to them reviewing (and likely accepting) the DS-260. Read your checklist again it states right there what they reviewed.

I submiited the I864 EZ two weeks ago. As long as u meet the criteria for the EZ form, there is no problem in submitting it.

Hi,

I am not yet at the NVC stage, but hope to be very soon :-)

In preparing for the NVC stage I started to fill out my AOS documents. I ran into the I864-EZ and per the instructions I qualify. I seldom see it discussed here, is it still allowed for IR1-CR1 spouse visas? Any gotchas of it causing more RFEs or checklists vs the I864? I have gone through the first few pages but didn't see the 864ez discussed.

Yes, the I-864EZ is still used. We used it smile.png It's nicer than the I-864 as it's shorter, thus more simpler and faster to fill out. And less chance of making a mistake! If you qualify, definitely use the form!

Tried calling the NVC, They are closed due to inclement weather. sad.png

I believe customer service is closed today because I did receive an email of a checklist today. Guessing somebody else made it to work today.
