Thank you! - am printing it off now to write "NRA" in the SSN space... if we're filing separately is that all we need to do?

Again, appreciate it.

Yup! That's why MFS is easier for most people the first year until the foreign spouse gets a SSN.

If you wish, you can amend your taxes to MFJ after your spouse immigrates as it'll likely give you a higher refund. But, it's not necessary, just a thought ;)

Hi! How can we take an advance medical exam in the philippines? What are the requirements needed to present to them @ st. Luke if you dont have the interview letter from NVC or embassy? Pls help... Thank you!

Hi,

I brought 2 copies of SLEC online registration form, 3 pcs 2X2 passport photo (with my full name written at the back), copy of biographic page of my passport, they will ask for appointment letter, I just show them the barcoded copy of the instruction letter from NVC with my case number (ACL letter). you have to photocopy all documents in letter size. And I brought water as well.. lol! Arrived there at 5:40am and the process went smooth in the morning. Done with everything at 10:30 am except for the immunization. Need to go back at 1:30pm for vaccination and I had my vaccination at 4:50pm. Gosh! Got the result and cd at 5:30pm. But I'm lucky though because most of my batchmates need to go back the other day for immunization. Good luck!

Yay!!! Just submitted the DS-260 online and am mailing the IV package on Monday. Crossed fingers that everything is correct.... no checklists, no nothing!

Nice one! We're at the same stage! May I ask, on the DS260 what did you put for the vaccination question? I note from your timeline that you haven't had the medical yet. Have you already had the vaccinations anyway? I think I'm going to chevk 'no' and explain that I'll be having them at my medical in two weeks.

Cheers and good luck!

Keep in mind, whether you check 'yes' or 'no', an explanation box will appear. I checked 'yes' and still had to provide an explanation on that question.

If you wait until after the medical on the 21st, then that's 13 days away. About 2 weeks. That's approximately how much you'll delay the case as that's when you'll submit the DS-260, instead of today.

Oh ok, it must have changed then as when I tried checking the box for 'yes' no box appeared... I will tell her about the possible two week delay and hopefully that'll sway it!

Cheers

So i have another question. Have already submitted DS-261.AOS bill is invoiced however we have not yet paid.Waiting for IV bill to be invoiced too and then pay both these fees together. Are these two invoices dependent on each other?

Unless you call like every hour on the hour, no, your case won't be flagged. I called once a day and had no issues. They do keep a call log, so they do know when you called last, what you asked. But they won't delay your case if you call daily. There's absolutely nothing to worry about. Unless you're rude and obnoxious. Then you may want to worry tongue.png

Thanks for taking the time to answer Saylin. Our lawyer told us that our case is gonna get flagged if there's several people inquiring about the status (her and us) not because of the number of calls. That's why we haven't called yet. Is there anything to it?

Not sure how far back is needed for assets with bank statements. You might just need the most recent statement, not sure. Does it say anything in the I-864 instructions?

Keep in mind, whether you check 'yes' or 'no', an explanation box will appear. I checked 'yes' and still had to provide an explanation on that question.

So, try to convince her wink.png Otherwise, after the medical on the 21st.

UPDATE: DS260 submitted with box checked no with explanation!

Maybe you call them and ask that. Something like, "I wanted to call NVC on occasions, but our lawyer discouraged me saying it'd get flagged. Is that so? May I call every once in a while, if I have a question?" In the same phone call you ask where your case is :)
